Ft. Campbell officer purposely robs bank to prevent return to Iraq
KEOKUK, Iowa (AP) -- A Fort Campbell, Ky., soldier who police say robbed a bank and then surrendered just wanted to go to jail, Keokuk police said. "He told us he couldn't take it any more," police Capt. Kevin Church said.

"The robbery wasn't for financial reasons. He wasn't doing it because he needed the money, and we know he didn't want to hurt anybody. He wanted to be in a cell."

Master Sgt. Kenneth Lee Schweitzer, 38, of Louisville, Ky., walked into the Keokuk Savings Bank in southeast Iowa about 3 p.m. Tuesday, fired a large caliber handgun into the air and demanded cash, police said.

Schweitzer, a member of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, left the bank, climbed into his pickup truck and drove to the police department, where he turned himself in.

This guy is getting NO help from the US govt.
In the meantime, Bush goes fishing with his wealthy friends in Texas.

4. That is sad
If * wins and the draft is reinstated, committing a felony may become a way to avoid the draft, particularly since many of the Vietnam era exemptions are apparently no longer effective.

5. That really is dreadful
But just a point fyi...Master Sergeants are not officers.
Lots of people don't realize the difference between officers and enlisted personnel Master Sergeants are very high in the ranks of Enlisted people...and mores the shame that he felt he had to do this. He is losing a lot. It makes me sad and

8. I remember....
I was stationed at Ft. Campbell in the 3/327 the Rakassans...We had some guy do a suicide by cop (MP) by threatening everyone with a sword. It worked, he didn't want to do post detail anymore. Poor guy. Sometimes people just go nuts. If they happen to be in the military when it happens, I blame it on poor pay.

Down with Bush!

10. keep these soldiers and families in our prayers.
Having not seen death, I can not imagine what it is like to see so many young people die.

This was a solution to a very complex problem for this man. There might have been another solution but this was one this soldier felt would keep him alive.

That was his goal and right now he has achieved that. The consequences will be difficult but compared to being dead..... he will get pass them.

I pray for all the soldiers. As I saw an ad on TV tonight for the National Guard, I thought, how could anyone sign up now.

I believe it was different for WWII or for Pearl Harbor. We went after the correct enemy.

God watch over this man and his family, because they need your help now.
