Bill Simon already shoots self in the foot re: recall election
Saw this a couple of days ago, on one of the local Meet the Press wanna-be shows.

Simon was a guest, talking up his campaign in the recall election. He's listing off all of these problems w/ CA--bad roads, water supply, etc. The hostess asked him, "Yes, but what would you do to fix any of these problems?"

His reply (slightly paraphrased, like I said it was a couple of days ago): "Well, there are a number of private concerns who have expressed interest in taking care of these problems."

Simple Simon is apparently still clueless to the fact that privatization of public utilities is what got us into this budget mess in the first place.

Damn, I hope interviewers keep asking him this, and I hope he keeps pimping the privatization argument.

and offers huge corporations & republicans privatization wet dreams as an answer how to fatten their pocketbooks via tax payers money, not the concerns and welfare of the people. i.e. School Vouchers, Post office, Social Security, Public Utilities, etc.

Simon is a true shameless Republican pig.

and studied history. Bill Simon is one of a kind. Even Marie Antoinette only made one of these kinds of boo-boos. Simon ran the worst campaign I have ever seen, and even Republican pundits are saying that. It's like he has negative intelligence. From a strictly entertainment point of view, Simon is the gift that keeps on giving.

8. What does that tell you?

The people were informed?

Or perhaps 24 of the previous 32 years was Republican rule in CA you don't see, wasn't a drain on the state? And Bush's Texas Enron didn't gough our state for billions of dollars, as Maher said, is it Davis' fault for the dot com bust? Or the draining of all states, revenue with the war in Iraq was that Davis's fault too? Or perhaps the incredible downturn in the country's economy is Davis's fault? How about the Bush federal government relaxing immigantion laws (cheap labor) and a drain on the states resources...

If you think Bush and the boys have nothing to do with this...then a vote for a republican will cure your ills.

If you feel it's right for a rich republican, who can afford professional ballot gatherers as democracy, as this same rich republican is running for Gov. please explain this to me.

The election was held less than a year ago, Davis won by 5 1/2 points and the republicans didn't like the outcome...so like Bush stealing the election is allright with you?

10. Well, he didn't "TROUNCE" Simon...
Edited on Wed Aug-06-03 12:09 AM by Oracle
But he beat him, fair and square by 5 1/2 points...

And now Republicans with loads of money will get their way and they will steal the Governorship of our great state and Democracy.

Very sad.

It means Bush will have an easier time in 2004 in CA and a foot in the door, and that's all they want and need.

15. However, the Repugs have the money...
Edited on Wed Aug-06-03 12:26 AM by Oracle

And the Big 5 media....and with Issa, Simon and Riordan...let's get real we are facing at least seven to eleven years of another fucking Republican Gov. in CA...the writings on the wall.

This isn't pretty by any means...unless one is a Republican...think about what your agreeing with, because you hate Davis...I don't like Davis...but that's hardly the point...it's turnning around an election because one has the money to do so.

Davis did win...no matter how much you or I dislike him...and the wealth of one (and his party) who wants to be Gov. seems very wrong to me.

Seriously, you've cracked me up before.

I totally agree about Bill Simon. Why the Repubs ever nominated that dimwit is beyond me. It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen them do.

7. All kinds of people want Davis gone
but when asked what they would have done differently they seem to dodge the question.

No solutions, just RECALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not particularly productive.
Simon is just another rich twit who has no solutions except for "I'm looking into it."

Does one really want Issa as the Governor, simply because he can buy a recall?

He's a Republican, ideolgy and agenda comes first with this asshole.

Gee, you hate Gray Davis, but to be governed by this sleazy fuck Issa?

For how many years, will satisfy you?

Simply because you dislike Davis, who was indeed elected.

19. So what you are saying is:
Vote No on the recall becuase to vote yes means Issa will be our governor?

So suddenly Its more anti then whom I am for.

Here is the problem Issa is going to finish third, Hell He migh even finish fourth behind Flynt.

Simon won't win because even the GOP thinks he is an idiot. No...the problem is Riordan. He is a moderate and acceptable to alot of Dems.

The only way you do this is get a whole lot of support for Davis...which does not seem likely or you pit a caretaker on the ballot. I will vote no on the recall..of course but I want the Democratic Party not letting me have a ballot option should Davis lose.

21. Vote "No" on recall because elections matter and we can't
make a joke of democracy. If the stolen election didn't teach you about the importance of a vote and the GOP ruthlesness in dismantling our democracy, you imbibe too much ditto-media.
