If this were Vietnam
In a strange twisted way - and not from any clear perspective - it might almost be alright. At least Vietnam stood clearly on a moral fulcrum: right or wrong. Believe the government or adhere to your own sense of morality. Eventually we got our ass kicked and left ignominously with helicopters being tossed over the side of an aircraft carrier to make room for others to land (the best decision of the war).

But Vietnam is not so far in the past that this doesn't feel like getting your ass kicked, getting up and coming right back to get it kicked again. We know this is wrong. We've been there and done that.

bush is boring at least in that regard. It's definitely not fun reliving the past, but there is an omnipresent sense of jeja vu that prevents any real doubt about the outcome.

We need to make the clock go forward again.
