the modern republican party is not the party of Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln would spit into the eye of the cheneybush. This is the party of RAYGUN. Even the cowboy thing has its roots in 666's Death Valley Days - which is scary just by itself. It also may explain why gwb is a Texan or even why he was elected in the first place. the compasion part is also a legacy of the beast: to solve the mental health problem in CA he closed the hospitals and put the people out on the streets of LA an SF - dazed and talking to themselves. He's the father of supply side, trickle down and bird droppings. half the buildings in DC have his name on them. He defeated the communists single handed (no the CIA didn't notice that they imploded from a moribund economy). These guys will sneak onto the battlefield, wrench the standard from the dying grasp of its defender to claim it as their own. bush quoting John Kennedy or Martin L. King? It's an absolute sacrilege and par for the course.

1. The modern republican party isn't even the party of Gerald Ford
Ford was a moderate compared with these people. At least he and Dole, etc. had respect for the laws that govern this land.
