Tonight, the campaign gets kicked off officially.
We've mapped out a strategy, and we've already begun voter registration in key areas. We have a team of volunteers working on many key issues, and tonight we take the first step.
Immediately following the Dean Meetup, we have a meeting scheduled with key Democrats in the area, who can help with fundraisers, getting my name out there, scheduling appearances, etc. These people know my name from the peace demonstrations, but they want to hear my opinions on the issues, so we're having a get-together to discuss it all.
Because there is a Mayoral election in November 2003 here, we will make no announcement to the media until after that election. No need to confuse the voters. But that will not prevent us from starting off now, and staying under the radar to allow focus to remain on our Democratic candidate for Mayor.
---------------FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO OFFERED HELP-----------------
We've now set up a PayPal account for our campaign, and it has been verified by PayPal. Your contributions are appreciated. This is not necessarily a fundraising drive. We will have one of those very soon, but I know that some of you wanted to jump in early.
You may contibute via PayPal by going to www.paypal.com and sending your contribution to jseemann@neo.rr.com or Jeff Seemann For Congress.
I promise I will personally thank each of you who choose to donate to my campaign.
As for donating time and effort, I cannot begin to tell you how much I am overwhelmed by your help. I've seen the threads on my opponent, I've taken tons of e-mail with advice, I even got a copy of "The Campaign Manager" by Catherine Shaw sent to me via snail mail...and yes, I'm reading it and so is my wife.
Please, keep up the help in any way you know how. I don't need to remind you what DU means to me....but what I've seen lately really makes me realize what a great bunch of progressives reside on these boards.
Stay tuned for further details.
