1. it'll be scripted
remember the last "press conference" in prime time?

All the questions were arranged ahead of time. The list of "reporters" was arranged ahead of time.

The only hope is that one of the "reporters" actually takes the risk and asks a hardball to throw Shrub.

2. Best. Joke. Ever!
I laughed and laughed when I read your post. What you say is true, but you probably have a better chance of hitting the Powerball.

But I didn't think I was so transparent. I should have gone to school in Europe when I had the chance!

3. Don't get your hopes up.
Most of the Press Corp will continue to bow and kiss his ass.

Though it really would be wonderful, to see him have a major meltdown, on prime time TV.

4. yeah....right
Chimp probably has copies of all questions ahead of time and will call on the whores he favors...and they'll probably be a nice question about how his "faith" is helping him through these trying times.:eyes:

8. You know what... I respectfully disagree with you guys...
Me-Thinks the Press is very aware of the scrutiny that is upon them... I really think tonight will be a rough and tumble affair.

11. I am not holding my breath, but it would be nice if the WH press
did their job. But why should they change now? Dignity? Professional pride? The people's right to know?

:D

14. all its going to take is a handful of "reporters" to jump in the fray
say, by calling chimp Sir or some other insult like that. The rest will be obligated to pile on. Or so I dream

5. Preselected questions from pre-selected creampuffs...
"I imagine Peggy Noonan will make her way onto Hardball where she will tell us how "masterful" Bush is and how he really has "grown in office and in stature".
Later an MSNBC janitor will mop up under her chair. "

6. Whether they coddle him or not, he'll do horribly.
Then his performance will be universally lauded by the press as 'better than expected'.

But they'll coddle him, of course.

7. Any reporter caught...
asking Chimpy any tough questions will never be invited back to the WH. That's how the media is bullied into towing the line.

12. This will be a cheerleading rally on Iraq.
It looks like a corner has been turned in Fallujah. Never mind the reality- it looks like (the marines) have toughed out a very rough stretch and have "apparently" retaken the city.
Now there is a showdown brewing in Najaf with Sadr.
It's a rah rah thing- what Georgie does best. Never mind the long term outlook- short term there are "victories" to cite.
Never mind the cost in lives and potential hollowness of coalition support- it's a feel good time for shrubby and paulie and rummy.

15. The only reason the "The Vacation pRresident" ...
... is giving a "news" conference is that criticism of his disappearing act during this latest Iraq crisis has reached a new high. I've even seen Republican talking heads question why the Turd doesn't speak out.

Chimpy is no-way, no-how going up against even this spineless press corps without the guarantee of softball questions only.

23. What If...
Helen or some other BRAVE soul that did not have the blessings of the King to ask a question, just spoke up?!

What would happen if they just said..

Sir: This is America and I want the right to ask you a question!!!
I want America and the world to know that you will give me, an ordinary reporter, not pre-selected by your staff, the chance to ask you,

" Why did you continue to read a book about goats to a 2nd grade class instead of taking a leadership role on 9 11? Why were you not in charge?"

24. Not a CHANCE in hell.
You've obviously not seen this White House Press Corps in action with the Chimp.

The nicknames must have rendered them all as brainwashed servants of the evildoers.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The President is like a man in the middle of the room naked from the waist down. This press corps only looks at him from the waist up. I think you know where they looked with Clinton....

Even if someone gets a "real" question in-Bushies will complain about the evil liberal media out to get him

No matter what happens it will be twisted to fit the Republican agenda because they are republicans 1st before they are Americans

26. For those who doubt the control, read this article....
http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2003-03-09-media-mix_x.htm

Bush has media walking a fine line

As the potential for war against Iraq grows stronger, the White House press corps faces a delicate challenge: how to balance its obligation to hold President Bush accountable while respecting the challenges he faces at a critical time in history.

(cut)

Nowhere was that more apparent than last week, when Bush called a rare prime-time news conference, which networks and cable outlets covered.

There, Bush made two unprecedented moves that could signal the way he and his administration plan to handle — some say intimidate — the media during wartime.
