Chimpy: "whoever was the Acting FBI Director"
Check this out from yesterday's exchange with the "watchdog" press...

"President Bush: (The Aug. 6 memo) included the fact that the FBI was conducting field investigations, which comforted me. You see, it meant the FBI was doing its job, the FBI was running down any lead. And I will tell you this, Scott , that had they found something, I'm confident they would have reported back to me. That's the way the system works. And whoever was the Acting FBI Director, had they found something, would have said, Mr. President, we have found something that you need to be concerned about in your duties to protect America. That didn't happen."

http://www.thenation.com/outrage/

"whoever was the Acting FBI Director"....Two and a half years after the worst hostile attack on American soil in history, this unelected drunk hasn't even had enough curiosity to see who was supposed to be in charge of the FBI when he was warned the attack was about to happen.

3. I had to look...
at the TV when he said that and it's not easy to watch him...but I though someone said the name Meuller and looked confused like "was he the director???" Then he said that bit...

I think he will fall on his face tonight...the press isn't going to take it anymore...at least I hope...

7. he'll be drugged, and will simply repeat his mantra....
Terror, terror, 9-11, Saddam, terror, 9-11, terror. Did I mention terror?

19. Inspiring to see him on the nod, isn't it?
Conversely, if Chimpy comes out full of fire (like he did during the 2000 debates) and the conference runs more than half an hour or so...watch for him to visibly lose energy and his nose to start running after 30 minutes...

I kept noticing that during the debates with Gore and was amazed nobody else ever commented....

4. How the hell can he not know
who was his acting FBI director and what he was up to that summer...unless he's done absolutely nothing on his own to find out what happened prior to September 11?

17. He didn't have the playing cards to tell him who was who.
Sweet Jeesus, how does an idiot like this rise to the top of American politics? If he can't remember names of key personnel in his administration, why would anyone believe that he'd be capable of focusing on complex issues that require multi-tasking?

24. at least bush knew who wasn't the FBI director
I'll give him a half a point for knowing that Mueller wasn't the director at the time. On the other hand I will dock him a whole point for not remembering who the interim director was: Pickard.

Who was the idiot reporter that thought that Mueller was the director on Aug. 6th? Everyone knows that he didn't become the director until Sept. 4th 2001, just days before 9/11.

2. For pity sake
His condescending attitude is disgusting! Sounds like he is explaining this to a 10 y/o, all the while, sounding less intelligent then a 10 y/o. It's painfully obvious this morAn doesn't have a freaking clue about ANYTHING!

6. It is utterly disgusting...
The only thing more disgraceful is to hear the same asswipes who spent the entire Clinton administration trying to pretend a hum job was the crime of the century and brought the country to a standstill several times NOW asking piously "Why didn't Clinton do more?"

Newt shut the Federal Government down twice...the GOP launched FIVE different investigations into Whitewater...Lott and Hatch blocked anti-terrorism plans after Oklahoma City AND again after the Olympic Park bombing...

9. I just love how "hindsight is 20/20" but CLINTON SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE
Which of course is NOT hindsight so stop saying that.

13. But those asswipes who made Clinton drop everything
to answer the same questions about Whitewater for the fourth and fifth times...or answer questions about his sex life....nobody should question why they were distracting Clinton.

18. John Thompson
John Thompson is another one of those rosy-cheeked town beadle type of Republicans that make me want to heave a brick through the television set every time I see him.

Janet Reno is doing a good job in front of the Commission right now.

he should be.

You're probably thinking of that Darrell Issa crook in California that started the recall campaign to oust Gray Davis.

He's a car thief.

30. Thompson was swindling stockholders...
Another typical Republican trick.

http://www.buzzflash.com/editorial/04/04/edi04025.html

"...First of all, Thompson headed the auditing committee of the embattled Hollinger Corporation at a time that pro-Bush media baron Conrad Black and another company executive have been charged with taking shareholders to the cleaners. Thompson's committee had to approve the deals first, but "Big Jim" claims he wasn't aware of what was going on. Let's just say, at this point, there were a lot of serious alleged financial shenanigans that passed through Thompson's committee like feed through a pig....."

8. Then there was this little ditty: "The report was kind of a history...
...of Osama's... (long pause here struggling for a word) intentions, I guess is the best way to put it, kind of a history of what the agency had known."

The man struggles coming up with words like "intentions", and THEN pats himself on the back by saying things like "I guess is the best way to put it".

Reminds me of the "revisionist history" bull. He said something like "'revisionists' is what I like to call them", in reference to people who were questioning his justification for the war, I believe. When Rove told him what to say, he probably thought that was a new word few people had heard of.

"Intellectually incurious" my ass!! The man is an idiot with minimal grasp of the English language. It's so painfully obvious! He can't even speak coherently when reciting their own talking points (no doubt which he's been coached on for hours).

are flooding Washington with reports of Middle Easterners at flight schools...and begging for a warrant to search Zacarias Moussasoui's stuff....

AND NOTHING AT ALL CAME OF IT.

... maybe SmirkBoy could've called up Salem bin Laden (Osama's brother and investor in Chimpy's failed Arbusto bidness) and asked him what his brother was up to.

Hmmmm?

16. Before we get to excited about this verbal glitch
Is it possible that he was making a point that "whoever" might be in the context of a Clinton or Bush appointee? I seriously doubt this because the * is not that smart, but it appears to me that this will be the spin that the WH will give on this particular blunder?

22. No...
Freeh quit AFTER Clinton left office...

"May 2, 2001 - "FBI Director Louis J. Freeh announced yesterday that he will resign in June, ending an eight-year tenure that was marked by ..."

http://www.zpub.com/un/fbi-freeh.html

Besides assigning twice as much manpower to track Lewinsky as he did to track Bin Laden, Freeh also distinguished himself with the Wen Ho Lee disgrace and by going to Sunday mass regularly with Soviet spy Robert Hanssen without any sort of suspicion on his part. He and Hanssen were part of the right wing Catholic offshoot Opus Dei.
