Bush and Fox using American Idol fans
Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 01:25 AM by malatesta1137
Corrupt Drudge just posted this:

Fox is trying to boost Bush's press conference by delaying American Idol by 24 hours. They must be desperate and aware that Kerry is NOT just 7 points ahead, and more like 17.

1. It's just going to piss off American Idol fans

American Idol fans will get off work at Walmart and McDonalds to watch their favorite show, and will be furious when a Presidential Press conference on instead. Many won't bother to check that the show is delayed. They'll just think it was pre-empted.

This blunder will hurt Bush, not help.

5. Why would it not be 8:00 instead of 8:30?
I am TVless, but assume American Idol would be scheduled to start at 8:00 - and 8:00 in each time zone, so 8,9,10 and 11 EST. And the conference will be at 8:30 EST.

So, this means that people in Central time will tune in expecting to watch American Idol, and instead see the tail end of the conference ...

Anyway, the timing does not seem to couple up with the American Idol timeslot unless I'm misunderstanding what I thought I just explained above.

2. Somehow I don't see the American Idol audience ...
staying tuned in for Bush.

It's funny ... when my Mother found out there would be a press conference tomorrow night, the first thing she said was, "That idiot's going to take off American Idol!" Needless to say, she won't be watching the Bush* puppet show. :D

3. Oh brother....
Isn't normal for Networks to resume their regular schedule immediately following these kind of "interruptions"? Sounds like Fox is using this as an excuse to 1) deal with an anemic schedule and 2) rain on the Apprentice's parade by airing AI on a Thursday.
