My God! Now they want Kerry excommunicated!
This clown William Donohue on Scarborough sounds like a medieval Inquisitor! He wants Kerry excommunicated over his stand on abortion and over whether or not he got an annulment of his first marriage from the Catholic Church!!!! Sounds like he wants Kerry burned at the stake! They don't just want Kerry to lose the election, they want him to burn in hell!!!!!

The question put to McCarthy is more relevant than ever: "At long last, sir, have you no shame?"

whether or not Kerry is a good Catholic.

They will never bring up that George Bush's church (Methodist) opposed the invasion of Iraq.

34. I just love that show. Never saw an episode I didn't like
except maybe the Christmas special. I mean I liked it, but didn't love it as much as the regular series.

For me they go 2, 4, 3, 1 favorites-wise, generally speaking because I like the snarky Edmund better than the simpering one. I cried at the end of each series, especially the 4th one. Sad, I know. *l*

37. not sad- the end of the 4th was sad enough to cry legitimately
although the end of two was funny with hugh laurie as mad prince ludwig w-reaking his reweng-e. that order is about right. but episode wise...1. money (2) 2. beer (2) 3. the infanta (1) for me.
4 has some of the best lines but the characters in 2 and 3 are great. best show ever although the new statesman, red dwarf(first 5 seasons anyway) and bottom are up there for shows that made me laugh so hard i hurt.

43. Black Adder is such a classic.
This exchange always makes me laugh:

Witchsmeller: And what did you mean by it?

Edmund: Well, I meant, would the cat like some milk.

Witchsmeller: Milk? What did you mean by `milk'?

Edmund: I meant *milk*! Bloody *milk*!!!

Witchsmeller: BLOODY MILK!!! It was a mixture of milk and blood!

Edmund: No, no, just milk!

Witchsmeller: Ah, blood was to come later!

Thank you for the warm welcome. Cheers! :toast:

They're even spinning that Kerry is pro-outsourcing and that he owns sweatshops. And it's working. My southern Democratic friend says she doesn't like either Kerry nor Bush and that Nadar is looking better and better. She's getting her head turned by a relative from oop North.

23. Bob Novak is really tight with Fr. McCloskey, Opus Dei priest
who converted him (Novak) to Catholicism. Fr. McCloskey is an ultra right-winger.

Fr. McCloskey thinks that Catholics who object to anything the Church teaches or the Pope says should leave the Church. He says there's a name for them, "Protestants". He figures it would be about 80% of the U. S. Catholics and that the Church would be better off without them.

Don't pay any attention to Novakula. He's been taken to the "dark side" of Catholicism.

I've seen him on Hardball several times and he gets so mad and so full of hate,it appears religion is the furthest thing from his mind. 32. That's because Opus Dei controls most of the leadership
positions close to the Pope. And Opus Dei has been actively recruiting and converting in Washington D.C. So it's the Opus Dei message that gets called "Catholicism" instead of Christ's teachings.

Opus Dei has recruited/converted the following:
Antonin Scalia
Clarence Thomas
Robert Novak
Sen. Rick Santorum
Sen. Sam Brownback
Peggy Noonan
Louis Freeh
Rovert Hansson (spy)

Opus Dei, started in Spain around the 1930's was strongly supported by Franco. It was also strongly supported in Peru by Alberto Fujimoro and in Chile by Augusto Pinochet.

It is a very right-wing, heirarchical, secretive, mind-controlling organization. It is beyond conservative. It is very sexist and very classist. In my opinion, it is a cult.

Edited on Mon Apr-12-04 09:52 PM by amen1234
Catholics are not like the fundi-churches of the southern states...
it is everyone's personal decision whether to go to Communion....gosh, even Clinton, a non-Catholic, received Communion from a Catholic Priest during his trip to Africa...some whined about it, but nobody listened....

Kerry will win by a landslide with Catholics...that's why there is a total attack from all those religiously-insane radical-reTHUGlicans....the American taliban attackers...

JFK was raised in the Catholic Church....in a very Catholic area of America...he has been elected for many years to the Senate by CATHOLICS....and IMO, he's on his way to the White House with the full blessing of America's Catholics....OUR second Catholic JFK...

Theodore Cardinal McCarrick said today that he would feel "very uncomfortable" denying communion to politicians because of their political stand on social issues. Then, he assigned the 'concern' to a 'committee of Bishops' to 'study'....thereby, taking the whole discussion off the table for Catholics, during this election season...the issue is now officially DEAD....thanks Cardinal....

(this is pretty much the TOP of the Catholic Church in America)

The Coat of Arms of Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington D.C.

perhaps a country wide thing. Very damming. The Catholic Church has many faults, but they have promoted peace and social responsibility. I grew up in this faith and I cannot agree with all their positions. Most Catholics understand this is a universal church so they formulate an uderstanding of other nations as try to improve life for all.

http://www.catholicworker.org/

The Catholic Worker Movement, founded by Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin in 1933, is grounded in a firm belief in the God-given dignity of every human person.

Today over 185 Catholic Worker communities remain committed to nonviolence, voluntary poverty, prayer, and hospitality for the homeless, exiled, hungry, and foresaken. Catholic Workers continue to protest injustice, war, racism, and violence of all forms.

39. The bit about the annulment is bunk.
Kerry did receive an annulment from the Boston diocese. Kerry is not going to be excommunicated. I can't imagine the Catholic Church doing that. They'd have to excommunicate every pro-choice politician. If not, the move would be seen as interferring in our elective process. I think that would swing some fence-sitters to Kerry.
