Why can't I stop watching O'Reilly?
I can't accurately describe how much I loath this man or his half-baked, nitwit program. He represents everything that I oppose and distrust about the conservative political factions in this country. I am angered, frustrated, or simply unsettled every time that I watch his show. He's arrogant, off-base in his logic, and clearly biased in his presentation of the facts. Why can't I stop watching his show then? I need an intervention! Someone help!

Get a life.

5. Ouch.
Hey man, I have a friggin life. Why not avoid the personal attack and focus on the question? My question is sincere. I honestly despise this guy, but I watch his program regularly. I'm an educated person (Master's of Ed.), and I honor honest debate and discussion of political issues. Of course, that's where my dilemma arises. Why would I have any interest in this program?

The best that I can offer as an answer to my own question is that it's something akin to a car wreck -- it disgusts me, but I can't look away. Does this problem plague anyone else out there?

12. I used to go to Free Republic every day
Finally the damn place just got the better of me and I told myself that I was done with it. I removed the link from my bookmarks and haven't been back since. It took some discipline, but if you recognize it and tell yourself that you're bigger than your obsessions, then you can win.

That's what you need to do with O'Reilly. It's not doing your any good -- think of all things you could be doing that you'd actually ENJOY while it's on...

occasionally I miss watching PBS, but with the BBC, NPR and DemocraticUnderground your mind is well fed.

4. Hahahaha! Did you just see him get peeved?
Some dude was on there that had written a book called "Crazy Like A Fox" and at one point the author said something like "Folks had never seen you in this role, as an interviewer" and O'Reilly said something like "Yes, I was a journalist" then the author said something about him doing "opinion news" and O'Reilly paused, his eyes kinda glazed over, and he said "Uh, it's news analysis."

NEWS ANALYSIS?!?!?!?!?!?! WTF happened to just REPORTING THE GODDAM FACTS???

You dumb fuck! Bwaahahahahahahahaaha!

6. It is like worrying a canker sore
You know it will heal faster and feel better if you leave it alone, but it is so hard to do.

My husband has the same problem, I make sure I have the remote when the show is on. LOL!!

Friends don't let friends watch O'Reilly.

7. I occasionally listen to him as well.
If you only listen to people you agree with then you have no chance of being open minded.

13. I can't do this anymore.
I hope I don't go gallivanting off a cliff on the left side of the road, but I just found my political voice and need to nurture it for a bit before I can confront the big, scary world out there.

9. I'm sure it's just you love to hate him. Don't be so harsh on yourself,
just watch the show. If that's the worst thing you ever do in life, you'll be in good shape!

:) :)

10. I watch him till
I get to the first spin, then I turn him off, it sometimes takes no more than 10 or 20 seconds. I think I enjoy getting pissed off with him.

11. It's the same phenomena
as not being as to pass an accident. One has the need to stand and glare in total amazement at the carnage.

14. Its a morbid fascination
Stop watching and your blood pressure will go down. Or try speaking to your tv in snake tongue for an interactive experience.

17. I admit I have that problem to an extent.
If I am watching tv and O'Reilly is on, I usually watch for a few minutes. If you watch it in very small doses, it's hilarious.

For instance today, he had a journalism professor on whom I suspected was supposed to play along with O'Reilly as he whined about the NYT and the fact the media used the word "uprising" instead of "insurgency" (the fact that this alone peeves O'Reilly enough to be an issue on his show is humor enough) showing institutional "liberal" bias. Anyway, the professor said there is nothing to show this is due to "agenda", instead that media is an imperfect medium...O'Reilly said 'Where's your evidence, you don't have any evidence of that'. Then O'Reilly went on a rant on how the NYT and "elite media" have this 'liberal agenda' and they purposefully manipulate the news. The professor asked, "Where's your evidence?"

O'Reilly's answer..."Alright, we have to go to a commercial."

O'Reilly's a comic goldmine, he just doesn't know it.
