I'll Tell You Why It's A GOOD THING Lieberman Is Running....
It gives voters a choice.

Center-Right: Lieberman
Center-Center: Edwards/Graham
Center-Left: Gephardt/Dean
Left-Center: Kerry

We - and by we I mean DU and the rest of America (at least those in the first couple of primary states) will get to choose the direction of the party. We'll get to find out once and for all if the majority of Democrats want to stay in the center, politically, or inch over to a more diametrically opposed ideological position.

This is a good thing.

I, for one, can't wait to see how this is going to play out. Lieberman, whether folks realize it or not, is doing the party a service by telling folks they can go in one direction or the other.

This is patently true. And we'll see where Democrats really want to take this party.

I thank Lieberman for providing a clear alternative to primary voters. If he wasn't in the race, how would the DLC have gotten the message that the rank-and-file are tired of the mushy middle?

Thanks Joe!

:)

1. here is why it's a bad thing..
Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) apparently understands what other Democrats don't, that those unwilling or unable to stop terrorist activity by dealing with it will be forced to deal with its aftermath:
"Some in my party are sending out a message that they don't know a just war when they see it, and, more broadly, are not prepared to use our military strength to protect our security and the cause of freedom." (Sen. Joe Lieberman, "Lieberman Takes President, Fellow Democrats To Task On Security, Foreign Policy," Press Release, 7/28/03)

That's from a new RNC letter.

2. If your gradient is right then it easy for me: Kerry
If the Right is wrong, then the Left is right and that center's thing is for dead skunks and yellow stripes (just like some Repuke said).

3. Who me?
I think if Kerry's supporters start touting him as left-center, he'll quickly come out for school uniforms or something like that. Actually I think they're all center-left to one degree or another, and they'll be happy to be there and no where else come election day.

4. how are gephardt and Dean
anymore liberal than Edwards or Graham

Edwards is in the center, of the democratic party, not the American political spectrum. He, and all of the serious candidates other than Leiberman can't be split up into 3 groups like you do, with any real scientific way.

Image is one thing, but none other than Leiberman can be considered true half and half, centerists

5. Why is Kerry to the left of Dean and Gephardt?
