CIA tried unsucessfully to plant weapons in Iraq
This is apparently Al Martin information, which I have understood from this forum to be rather unreliable and rarely confirmed by alternative sources, but thought is is worth discussion (if not breaking news).

According to a stunning report posted by a retired Navy Lt Commander and 28-year veteran of the Defense Department (DoD), the Bush administration’s assurance about finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was based on a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) plan to “plant” WMDs inside the country. Nelda Rogers, the Pentagon whistleblower, claims the plan failed when the secret mission was mistakenly taken out by “friendly fire”, the Environmentalists Against War report. Nelda Rogers is a 28-year veteran debriefer for the DoD. She has become so concerned for her safety that she decided to tell the story about this latest CIA-military fiasco in Iraq.

1. I would have thought that this was a job
for the LAPD. But I guess the CIA is equally inept.

2. Hmmmm..........Will this make any other main stream media???
This does not look good!!!!

It does fascinate me how the DOD is at odds with the CIA.

Then you have all those private missionaries and who the hell
do they work for???

Poppy???

Cheney????

7. Mercenaries, not missionaries
There is a difference, although when there's a Bush in the White House the difference is slight.

3. No one will believe WMD if found now
This and similar reports of attempts to plant WMDs in Iraq have been floating around for some time. If any WMDs are "found", that one one will believe the Bushies unless David Kay and Hans Blix both verify that such finding is authentic.

5. I remember a DUer who said that some time ago with this twist:
The US and Israeli special ops actually planted some WMDs but the Iraqis found them, stole them, and probably sold them or are hiding them for future use. That's why this administration was so certain that the WMDs existed and so worried about what happend to the missing WMDs that they had to engage longer than expected.

(my thought)This could be one reason why Rumsfeld insisted that they didn't need more troops. He thought they were just going to be able to find the planted WMDs...game over...troops back home.

If the DUer is out there who posted this theory originally please fill in the gaps. I might have missed the details of your theory. But it does sound plausible.

6. Elvis was in charge of that operation
I suppose when they find Elvis, they'll find the WMD...
