Chokie Roberts on NPR this AM: Mahrning Baahhb...
She had a trace of sheepishness in her voice, even while she was defending Bush's supposed 57% positive rating of something-or-another. You can only imagine what must be going on behind the scenes what with the "big story" breaking at any minute - who knows which one it will be: Plame, Hostages(!), PDB's, the next turncoat from the mis-Administration, who doesn't want his or her legacy to be tied with the downfall of the american Empire.

She lost that arrogance for the week - she thinks she's fooling someone with her 'objectivity' but we know better; she's just trying to stay 10 minutes ahead of the curve.

1. I sometimes wonder what I love more
The anti-Cokie threads or the anti=Candy threads.

It's sorta like Sophie's Choice, but inverted.

4. She's apparently one who still thinks Bush is popular.
I heard somebody else, don't remember who, who said just three months ago that Bush had a 70% rating. They like to believe that he still has that.

5. Wishing and hoping as they used to say
before the prom...

Chokie is undeniably the most hypocritical of the bunch because she really should know better. Her brand of elitism is particularly offensive because the rest of her family, including here sister who was the mayor of Princeton, were forward-thinking individuals. But when Bush the Elder co-opted her many years ago, she sold her soul. She and Kevin Phillips used to really go at it until she got rid of him because he is a conservative Bush-hater and proud of it. She just couln't stand to be one-upped by him every Monday on NPR. He, however, shall have the last laugh.
