1. Imagine my outrage as I listened to Powell's UN speech.
I knew he was lying his ass off. I was up on all that stuff back then. I had no idea the guy was that effin' corrupt.

I've lost a hell of a lot of respect for that guy. It's a damn shame, I tell ya.

2. I think many of us liberals were rooting for him just because he was black
But he's a man, and he was ambitious, and he sold his soul like so many ambitious people do in politics and the corporate world. So, why should we be surprised?

3. Yeah, me, too
he needs to resign. At some point, the man has to realize he's ruined all the hard work of his past by sticking with this corrupt regime. It's sad. I would never have expected this deception and lack of respect for the American people from Colin Powell. It's very disillusioning.

5. Powell knew it was rubbish too.
Didn't he throw up the speech and say, "I'm not reading that bullshit"?

13. read Powell's history
He has been a liar and waterboy for the right wing, going back decades. The fawning press buffed him up during gulf war I. See consortiumnews.com

6. where is the media on this?!
Chalabis brother? His brother made up the story, told the Germans, they told Powell, and THAT was his PROOF??? This story should be front page everywhere! All the people I know who were on the fence about the war, decided to support it after seeing Powell and his charts and pictures of these fictional mobile labs.

8. The Greenwald documentary "Uncovered" pointed this out
about the lie of the mobile labs and why an artist's rendering had to be used: because the real thing didn't exist.

The "Vanity Fair" May 8 article "Push to War" on page 228 also goes into the creation of Powell's testimony and why Powell insisted that George Tenet sit behind him during his presentation.

I believe Bob Woodward's book, which he will discuss (or so I've heard) during 40 of the next "60 Minutes" (April 18), and which will soon be serialized in the "Washington Post" in the run-up to publication, will probably be equally if not more damning.

Get the Robert Greenwald documentary "Uncovered: the Trust about the Iraq War" for $9.95 from www.disinfo.com . Extraordinary film, with almost 30 former intelligence, diplomatic, and military officers dissecting the nonsense America was force-fed by the administration and the stenographic media.

14. Use the Bus!
For all the things that Colin Powell isn't, he did provide the only real resistance to the Wolfowitz cabal. But I don't have any respect for him anymore, especially after that grandstanding at the UN. American Prospect has a good article on just this topic in the current issue. That's American Prospect now, not American Spectator.

15. I lost all respect for Powell during the recount of 2000
he showed himself to be nothing more than a lying weasel who was willing to lie to get what he wants. here's a link to the article in The American Prospect:

Misoverestimated
Yes, the hard-liners have outflanked and humiliated Colin Powell. But don't feel sorry for him. He has no one to blame but himself.
