In Iraq, if 10% are against us, it does not mean 90% are for us.....
In other words, if we have only 10% actually fighting against us, it does not mean that we have 90% willing to fight for us. That seems to be the suggestion from those on the right that make that statement. In fact, we can't even get 650 Iraqi soldiers that we trained to help fight the "insurgents" in Fallujah.

When they say 90% are for US, they mean they are not with the radical 10% that are willing to fight against the US. As in most societies, including the Vietnamese society, most people do not wish to get involved in war or violence. That did not mean they were for us in Viet Nam and it does not mean they are for us in Iraq.

Anyway, 10% in a population of 25 million is 2.5 million people against us! And how many troops do we have to fight that many people? It helps to put it into perspective sometimes, other than the "perspective" that comes from the White House or the corporate media.

1. I saw Bremer this am safe in his bunker assuring
Russert that most Iraqis want us there. Even whore Timmy couldn't completely swallow that one and quoted an Iraqi cabdriver who vehemently hates Americans. At that point Bremer looked like he might start crying and hedged a bit by saying they don't necessarily like us but they don't want us to leave either.

The day Bremer starts walking the streets of Baghdad without his ever-present machine-gun toting mercenary guards, is the day I'll start believing him.

2. 10% == 2.5 million
roughly... that's no small motzah ball. But my bet the actual number is closer to the reverse. The neocons talk about how the Iraqi people want us to liberate them, but when have we ever shown anything other than contempt for them as a people? And given that, how would 90% be 'on our side' when the US is certainly not on theirs?

Talk about a self-esteem issue. :crazy:
