There Is More Here Than Just The PDB
Edited on Sat Apr-10-04 10:54 PM by ThomWV
We know that the response by the Administration and half of the Congress is going to be that there is nothing specific in the PBD, and that is in fact true. The thing is this, was the President of the United States so uninterested that he would not have have asked for a greater discussion about the items on the paper? People act like the paper is the briefing. It is not, it is the talking points for the briefing. Unless they are saying that Bush is a dunce, unable to muster up a single intelligable question after seeing that document, the the lack of exact specificity in the briefing paper is meaningless.

1. Paul O'Neill said that the president was precisely that dunce.

2. my two questions are
If they knew it was involving hijackings, why not put sky marshalls on planes and notify the airlines, coincidentally , Rumsfeld and Brown were not flying commerical airlines at the time
If they knew New York was involved, why didn't they figure it out after the first plane hit the WTC?

12. Is that possible?
I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not sure if that's a realistic quick fix or not.

I don't know how many sky marshals there were before 9-11.

I looked and there are about 30,000 commerical flights per day. But many of those are 1 plane with multiple hops. In 2001, there were 8000 or so commerical aircraft. Of that, I'm guessing more than 1/2 were used by the major airlines... so lets say there are 6000 commerical aircraft in use on any given day.

Can you staff 6000 sky marshals starting in mid summer?

5. Oh? I'm reading now that the PDB was actually 11 pages long...
...not the one-and-half they're trying to tell us at this point. How much info do you suppose is in the nine-and-a-half pages we haven't seen yet?

And your OPINION is that there is nothing specific in the document...that is not necessarily the truth, is it?

6. Condi testified that she may have attended the 08/06 PDB by video
Does that mean there are recordings, either video or audio, of the August 6th PDB?

If there are, it could blow this whole thing out of the water.

8. Aug 2001
I googled 'Bush clearing brush 2001,' and found Buzz's list of activities around Aug. 01... as I sort of recall someone saying he went out to clear brush after he got the PDB:

http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/2002/07/22_Giant.html

and linked to this 8/07/01 interview poolside:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/08/20010807-2.html

Bush "...working a lot of issues, national security matters. I've got some decisions to make -- as you know, working on immigration policy, state visit with the President of Mexico." A few off-hand commments about Iraq toward end of interview. Golfing, running.

It's disturbing how much time he spends on vacation, tho Cheney is co-pres anyway - and that's even more disturbing.

9. there's nothing specifc in the PDB because . . .
what they released was no more than 15% of the original document! . . . betcha there were some specifics in the missing 85% . . . which is probably why it's missing . . . these liars must think the American people are complete fools . . . well, these fools are waking up and starting to realize that it's the other way around . . .

10. CNN now saying
"The following is a transcript of the August 6, 2001, presidential daily briefing entitled Bin Laden determined to strike in US. Parts of the original document were not made public by the White House for security reasons."
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/10/august6.memo/index.html

Pretty vague, eh? I tend to believe O'Neill's description of Bush as disinterested. Bring on the cheeseburgers.

13. CNN already whoring it up letting Jim Thompson talk ad infinitum
so he's already putting it in the public ear that "the commission" finds nothing unusual, nothing worth the president's attention, in the PDB.

And these are the guys who accuse US of being partisan.

Fucking creep.

11. I like this summary-in-context posted elsewhere on DU
Here is the nutshell:

July 10, 2001: FBI agent in Phoenix warns of suspected terrorists taking flight training in the US with the intention of hijacking airplanes. It's possible the memo mentions 9-11 hijackers or individuals involved in suspected plot<s> - by name.

August 6, 2001: President Bush receives a memo warning of a long history of a desire by terrorists to hijack US flights and commit other acts of terrorism within the United States. It concludes by summarizing that there are ongoing activities "in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks."

August 15, 2001: Accused 9-11 conspirator Zaccharias Moussaoui in custody, FBI field agents request for a search warrant on Moussaoui is denied.

September 11, 2001: Four domestic flights hijacked by terrorists trained in US flight schools.

Plus July 26 - Ashcroft, head of FBI, stops flying commercial due to threats.

14. Bush doesn't read anything and he expects others to raise the
questions for him. Besides, Cheney probably told him it was just the grocery list and he'd take care of it.
