Did Clarke see the PDB before 9-11?

If so, when? And what did he do about it?

If he didn't were they hiding it from him?

2. In August already?
I was thinking that came later. (I should just go buy his book.)

5. Go buy the book!
I just started reading it last night. Had to track it down from Amazon and the overnighted it to me. It reads almost like a Clancy novel and grabs you from the beginning. I haven't seen any mention of this PDB yet.

You are correct. Cyberterrorism came later.

6. I Doubt Very Seriously That He Saw It
I doubt that anyone outside of the "Principals" ever saw it.

7. "Make sure Dick Clarke gets a copy of this."
Wouldn't you want this particular PDB in the hands of the White House counterterrorism staff in addition to it being at the CIA?

8. I Don't Think So
I'll tell you why, and this is just my theory, so it could be just as full of shit as anything else I suppose.

I don't think that Bush actually trusts anyone he didn't bring with him. Clarke was kept becasue he had Republican roots and he was extremely competent, but I doubt very much indeed that he was a trusted confident of the President. It is said that Bush is doggedly faithful to those who support him, a snake against those who don't, and could not give a tinker's dam about anyone else. I think Clarke fell into the third catagory, they needed him, so they kept him, but Bush certainly kept him at a distance. I think that when Cheney said that Clarke wasn't in the loop what he really meant is that he was not in Bush's inner circle of trusted advisors - the faithful, so to speak.

Just my theory anyway.
