Better living through higher body counts.
I still remember Walter Cronkite giving the Vietnam body counts every Friday night. I still remember thinking that things must be ok, good guys were always killing more bad guys than bad guys were killing good guys.

We had the better team.

Now I’m trying to find any difference between Iraq and Vietnam.

Walter Cronkite no longer delivers a weekly score card and we have the Web.

Iraq is far more dangerous. Back in the day we could count on the mutually assured destruction to counter balance blood-lust.

Not any more.

2. That's the way I remember it also
How could we lose when we always killed more Viet Cong. Every night, every night, for years the lead news story was Viet Nam.
