9/10/01 Guardian story: US PULLS THE PLUG ON MUSLIM WEBSITES (They knew!)
Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 02:08 AM by JohnOneillsMemory
I just today remembered saving this UK Guardian Unlimited online story. It is very timely.

It describes a huge anti-Muslim security sweep on September 5, 2001 in Richardson, Texas. It screams THEY KNEW IT WAS COMING!

(I've emailed it to the 9/11 commission and many media contacts.)

US pulls the plug on Muslim websites

"Islamic groups have condemned a government crackdown on a Texan telecoms company as part of a "witch-hunt", writes Brian Whitaker.

Five hundred websites - many of them with an Arab or Muslim connection - crashed last Wednesday when an anti-terrorism taskforce raided InfoCom Corporation in Texas.

The 80-strong taskforce that descended upon the IT company included FBI agents, Secret Service agents, Diplomatic Security agents, tax inspectors, immigration officials, customs officials, department of commerce officials and computer experts.

Three days later, they were still busy inside the building, reportedly copying every hard disc they could find. InfoCom hosts websites for numerous clients in the Middle East, including al-Jazeera (the satellite TV station), al-Sharq (a daily newspaper in Qatar), and Birzeit (the Palestinian university on the West Bank). It also hosts sites for several Muslim organisations in the United States, among them the Islamic Society of North America, the Muslim Students Association, the Islamic Association for Palestine, and the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development."

1. Holy Land Foundation
I remember Holy Land Foundation during the same time. It was HUGE. Probably some stuff about it at dallasnews.com in the archives.

Clarke mentions this in his book.

8. I think that was one of the groups linked to Grover Norquist, too
I think this came up when Frank Gaffney and Norquist were having it out in 2002.

NOTE: It's hard to find a link to this that doesn't come from a crypto-right-wing site, so I'll refrain. Google reveals dozens of links from 'Norquist holy land foundation'.

4. Good save
Thanks for keeping this from going down the memory hole. Very timely as we get more people to question the offical story shoved down their throats by corporate media.

6. also forgotten were the later shut down Muslim Charities - one connected
to Grover Norquist. Grover then disappeared from the news for about 8 months to reemerge later with even more power (consolidating his K Street Group, with weekly power meetings among lobbyists, GOP politicians and other power brokers - whose push was to force lobbying firms who used to employ both dems and repubs to ONLY employ pubs or risk being cut off from access from GOP sens and reps on the Hill) - and with NO mention of his connection to some indiividuals and entities later tied to being likely conduits for funds flowing to terrorist groups.

9. Norquist Also Had VERY Close Ties
To the Muslim Chaplain who was arrested as a spy at Guantanamo...If I'm not mistaken, the Chaplain got the job because Norquist recommended him....

7. Was there ever an official explanation for this raid?
I hear folks say conspiracy is impossible because too many people would have to be involved. But when you consider the flurry of unexplained behavior by government agencies, pre and post 911, you've just gotta know it's true.

10. Was this 9/5 raid the first action after the 9/4 anti-terror task force
meeting that happened a mere 11 months after the election was stolen from Gore putting nearly a one year void in national security?

While I think there were neocon elements who wanted to exploit LIHOP, I don't think they could stop all efforts such as this raid to prevent something bad from happening.

I also put this in the 9/11 forum and another du-er said she was in the town where this happened and remembers the press conferences, a very visible scenario.

So that would seem to imply that they knew something was coming and wanted the public to KNOW that they knew something was coming as butt cover.

But then what happened was so huge and traumatic that they are running away from their foreknowledge and failure to prevent it.
