Our politicians have got to stop wasting our tax dollars on Iraq!
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 09:45 PM by tedthebear
Besides the blood shed, Iraq makes me mad because it's using up the money that should be spent on our domestic programs at home. I've said it once and I'll say it again, we can no longer afford to be the world's policeman. Look what happened to the Soviet Union in the 1980s. Our trillion dollar military budget is not necessary for our safety in this world. Instead of being Imperialistic, the USA could easily spread the responsibility of world order among its fellow nations. In reality, the Pentagon is a subsidy for our Fortune 500 multinationals so they don't have to worry about security costs (such as mercenaries). Meanwhile these same corporations are stabbing the tax payers in the back by outsourcing our jobs to India and China.

edit for sp.

1. I agree.
But we must have more, more, more. We cannot stop until we rule the entire world, literally. <sarcasm>

2. What's $5 billion a month?
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 09:31 PM by chookie
Chimp change. I mean, chump change.

When His Chimperial Highness requested an additional $87 billion on top of what they had already given him, and many of us were outraged, the flying monkeys laughed at how naive we were, and said that $87 billion is about what American women spend on makeup in a single year.

But if we ask *them* to put $80 million into say, Veterans Hospitals or education, *then* we can't afford it.

I thought it was costing us between $1-2 billion to melt down Iraq and start a long term regional war in the Middle East, but apparently it's now costing more like $5 billion. Paying for security mercenaries serving without loyalty to the constitution of the United States doesn't come cheap, matey!
