War on Terror: A Myth
Think about it. We cannot go around the world trying to kill each terrorist and the results will be that terrorism will stop. The idea is absurd.

If this were true, then Israel would not have the terror problem it does today. It would have been solved long ago if the whole idea was to kill "each" terrorist.

Anybody else thought of this?

1. The whole idea of a "war on terror"
overlooks the causes of terrorism. Terrorism is spawned when people feel exploited and powerless. Declaring "war" on such people only feeds the flames of further terror. We have to examine how our actions help sow the seeds of terorism.

8. No, you got it all wrong
They hate us for our belly button rings, and our Double Crust Dominos pizzas, and our "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire" shows, and. . . and. . .

10. LOL! Yeah, but it's interesting that they don't "hate" other
countries' freedoms like Canada for instance. * is such a moran!

2. Somebody recently said
on TV--I think it may have been Wes Clark--that the idea of a war on terrorism was ridiculous because you can't wage war on a tactic.

5. why not international law?
cuz the law would nail them, the true flys-in-ointment, as fast as any terrs....
some people are afraid of international law, of any damn law that isn't just a political tactic of cohersion....
notice the bush gang never mention 'international law' in connection to terror organizations...
they wanna re-invent the wheel everytime they can

7. Completely absurd. Just like the War on Drugs and the War against
Communism...remember the Domino Theory. Strictly a way to sell arms, steal resources and overthrow governments not towing the US corporate line. How else you gonna sell fighter jets and huge bombs?

while they're not literally true, they are based on a profound truth about the nature of the world.

We ignore that at our own peril

12. Historical use of terror
Terror is used as a tactic whenver a people dedicated to a cause are over matched by a superior military power. Just because the opponent has superior forces does not mean they choose to lie down and take their dominance. Declaring war on them only furthers their need to use terror.

13. we are all terrorists; the terror is inside us
The war is an impossible thing. If any human being is pushed enough,
they will resort to whatever resources are available to pursue
justice. Without talking and realizing that we all harbour an area
of the genetic mind that can bite like an animal, unconscious of
any consequences to ones self, that anamistic root is the animal
enraged, afraid, cornered and terrorized... and anyone knows a
beaten dog is more likely to bite. A loved dog never hurts people,
and a loved person as well. It is a social illness we spread
around, by elevating our social defects to office and leaving
real sane humanity in their homes aghast.
