My neighbor hates AWOL

My neighbor is in her 70's, recently widowed, retired elementry teacher and a devout Roman Catholic. She came over to our house this morning with a big bowl of fresh picked cherries and pleaded with us to take them - she has several trees all full of cherries... Our conversations have been limited to general chit-chat....

Anywhooooo-we got to talking about possible local taxhikes, next thing I know she's cursing AWOL, blaming him for the trouble the states are in, she snorts and rolls her eyes over AWOL's taxcut

Then she goes off about how the feds could better spend their time investigating Cheney and Haliburton instead of Martha Stewart

Next she tells me she likes Howard Dean, and then with a smirk she says, "but, you know, I'm so angry and upset about Bush, that I would vote for a garden slug if it stood a chance of kicking Bush out!"

Whooo-doggy, we had a mutual rant fest for a few more minutes, I told her to check out the DU if she can get to a computer. She says she is going to have her daughter teach her how to get onto the internet.

Sooooo, we may have a new member in the next few days

2. I see a trend.

Seriously, I see lots of people that are opening their eyes as the economy sinks into the abyss. I doubt it's going to improve under AWOL's "leadership".

3. I've passed on the DU site to a least a dozen people in the past months.....

....including one this am, who show any signs to being for Dems or even the "anyone but Bush" crowd. I know a few have signs up too because we discuss specific articles at DU in emails and snail mail letters.

5. My right wing neighbor as well

She came by this morning and was raising hell about Shrub. She works for Tenet Health Care and they've laid off many of her friends, cut all overtime and took away incentive (night, etc.) pay. Straight 40, no hope for additional income.

Was she pissed when I told her Shrub was about to make that permanent AND let them increase her "normal" work week to whatever the hell they decided - no more 40 hours.
