If a Tree Falls or Kerry Talks in a Forrest Does Anyone Hear??
I'm very fortunate--today I was able to hear all of Kerrys speech on NECN (NewEngland Cable News). I started with CNN who promised to broadcast it. They cut away after basically, John said "howdy folks" and went to Bill Schneider to 'anaylze it'!--analyze what??? His address was terrific and even a mental moron knew EXACTLY what he means with his tax proposals at the end (he said it fourteen thousand times). But, I've seen this trick before with the media, as the cover every word of every campaign stop of Bush. I'll guarantee you that in October they will stick a microphone in the face of a typical American ignorant slob and the slob will say "Kerry is a flip-flopper and I don't know what he stands for". I saw this same shit in 2000. Gore's speeches very much defined him; but the media didn't cover and/or anaylzed it with the "said nothing" label. They are doing it again. After all these decades you think I would have known this. I did but thought maybe they would let something through. They are not. They will not. We can't fight the zillion dollar war chest; plus the media manipulative propaganda; plus Bush using government agencies on tax dollars to put out misleading crap ads like the one on medicare. Kerry is crying in the wilderness---turn off his mike and he is only talking to a handful of people. And Bush grinned and said "way to go Carl" today as he flew to his ranch........he has the media totally on "war" and totally off of Kerry. Note to the Iraqis: you don't want our "democracy"--it's a farce.

2. bpbbie--that's the sad part. We can do nothing.
They even conveniently had the Pentagon press conference as Kerry was to be presented on Inside Politics. When Woodruff got to him she kept asking the same question. She would ask what he would do differently in Iraq.. He would answer and then the bitch would ask the same question again as if to tell the audience that "Kerry hasn't answered." I swear if I was John, I would have said to her, "what's the matter, bitch, do you have wax in your ears or are you just goddamn stupid, or a Bush whore, or all of the above"!! He seemed exasperated. They are treating him like a disruptive child.

3. I also started out with CNN and when they cut away
I turned to Bloomberg, which carried the entire thing. the speech was great and pumped me up-I DEFINITELY want to see Kerry debate Smirk. Later that afternoon, Kerry had a very good interview on Inside Politics. I also noticed this afternoon that the Moveon ads played... a lot!

he sounded quite presidential. god i hope that it isn't just us who are on to the media's game. and i really hope that cable news is not as pervasive as some here fear that it is.

5. Was there anything on the network news tonight??
I just couldn't bear to watch. I'm sure it was all war tonight and Kerry billed this as a "major address". CNN billed it as a "major policy address" and then had the gaul to do the shit I just described. There is no way that even if they covered anything on the evening news that got even the slightest gist of what he very emphatically said: If you make over $200,000 you will return to your rates that you had under Clinton; and if you are below that, I will give you a tax break (plus supporting doing away with the marriage pentalty, etc.)...bet nothing has gotten through. But they show everything the ignorant moran says and they talk about and pitch it. I'm just so sick. I only hope Americans start going apeshit about Iraq and then the mood might change and then they will "feed" the mood. But Americans don't care, because there is no "draft". Maybe Kerry should tell the people that in Bush's next four years there will be a "draft".
