"For bureaucratic reasons....
"For bureaucratic reasons we settled on one issue, weapons of mass destruction, because it was the one reason everyone could agree on." - Paul Wolfowitz

"Maybe someone knew down in the bowels of the agency but no one in our circles knew that there were doubts and suspicions that this might be a forgery." - Condi Rice

"There was a concerted effort during the fall of 2001, starting immediately after 9/11, to pin 9/11 and the terrorism problem on Saddam Hussein....I got a call on 9/11. I was on CNN, and I got a call at my home saying, 'You got to say this is connected. This is state-sponsored terrorism. This has to be connected to Saddam Hussein.'" - Wesley Clark

" “Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.” - George W. Bush

And on...and on....

1. The media snores a bit, rolls over and goes back to sleep
That's my prediction (since its what they are paid to do), but maybe there is some small hope that a reporter will go after this and will actually be allowed to get on the air and say what happened.

2. We need a Pentagon Papers hook for the media
Somebody needs to leak or steal some sensitive, preferably classified document that proves Bush Knew there were no WMD, or that there motives were otherwise. Then a reputable print publication needs to run with it.

Our 21st Centural media need a story line. We need Newt and Rush screaming "treason", preferably an indictment and the intrepid reporter fleeing the country a step ahead of the Justice Department.

What we need, sadly, is drama. But that's not all that terribly different than the 20th or 19th century media, IMHO as a former journalist and press flack.

3. The spin won't stop until the spinners are tossed out.
They think that they can spin their way out of their lies that supported a criminal war. Unfortunately, while they spin, it's the U.S. populace that appears to get dizzy.
