Howard Dean is a class act!
As I listen to the Howard Dean interview on the rerun of Friday's MAJORITY REPORT on Air America Radio, I find myself wishing more and more that he had won the nomination. I won't go into detail, but if you're listening, I think you'll understand why I feel this way!

1. I love what he said about Frank Luntz.
Yes, he is quite powerful in this venue. A natural on radio.

3. I wished he was the nominee too!
Obviously he was set up to fall by the mainstream media and the right-wing from both Democratic and Republican parties. He was made out to be this angry madman. He wasn't. If Kerry loses in November, I am going to come back on DU and tell people " I told you so!". I hope I won't have to. He was and I still think he is the right man for the job to take on Bush.

10. But why did we allow that to happen?
I don't understand why Dems let the media dictate to them how they should perceive Dean. I didn't--my attitude was wherever there's smoke, there's fire---and the media was making a big deal of the smoke coming from Dean's campaign because they couldn't understand how someone was advancing in this race without them setting the tone and the speed of his ascention.

It was almost as if Dean usurped their authority by using the internet to spread his message and grow his support base... and until the mass media controls the internet, they're going to crap all over anyone who uses this medium to bypass them to get their undiluted message out to the Democratic voters.

13. Unfortunately, by the time the primaries got to my state...
...Dean had stopped actively campaigning. So I voted for Kucinich.

Come November 2nd, however, my vote goes to John Kerry!

14. I agree
" He was and I still think he is the right man for the job to take on Bush."

I'm sorry, but Kerry is as exciting and inspiring as a kitchen sponge.

Dean has fire, passion and the will to take on Bush boldly. Kerry's got too much baggage that keeps busting open on him at the most inopportune times.

18. Dean is a loose cannon
He got trounced in Iowa after campaigning for two years and raising more money than anyone in history. What in the world makes you think he could have beaten Bush? Frankly, I'm glad that Dean lost.

25. Dean is not a loose cannon!
Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 03:56 PM by Cascadian
Have you been watching too much CNN? It is what the mainstream media and the centrist (right-wing) Democrats want you to believe. If there was anger in Dean's tone. Of course! Aren't you angry at what has been happening in the last four years??? Howard Dean is a straight shooter. Not some loose cannon. I am so sick of people painting him out to be this madman. Maybe we do need a madman to go up against another madman currently occupying a the White House. Give me a break!

23. No, obviously he lost because people weren't interested in voting for him
WHY that happened is open to debate. Obviously big Dean fans will say it was the press and the 'establishment', and obviously opponents will say it was because Dean was crazy, angry, unlectable and whatever else.

That people would put forth interpretations that nakedly pander to their own sensibilities and agenda is pretty depressing.

that Kerry was appointed the nom.

We can do better than that.

12. I know
I just hate that people should still feel put upon or unwelcome based on who they supported in the primaries. DU seems totally without empathy at times to me, and any two groups who are going at it are equally guilty of it more often than not.

9. NO!
We Democrats need unity now more than ever. If there is a lot of squabbling at the convention, that will play right into the repubs hands. All you Dean people listen to your guru and vote for Kerry. As he said, if you want to make a stand on principle, do it in '08.

And Dean was never my "guru." Hell, I voted for Kucinich in the primaries. But that's still no reason for me *not* to think that Howard Dean is a class act.

29. use of guru
is just another tired attempt to paint dean supporters as some sort of cult.

i think the poster is envious of the loyalty that dean inspires.

besides, dean will continue to be one the shapers of the future democratic party, because we dean supporters have no intention of going away.

16. uh
I like Dean 100x better than Kerry. I think Kerry is a poll watching professional politician who really doesn't give a sh*t about me or anyone else. Don't tell me what to do, especially with the Unite crap. I donated to Kerry's campaign and plan to vote for him. I think telling us to unite is like telling us were too stupid to see for ourselves that despite Kerry and all the things we detest about him, we still realize Bush is worse. At this point im voting for the candidate who is going to screw me the least.

20. He just makes so much damn sense.
That's the impression I get whenever I listen to him just honestly sit down and give his opinion on topics. He just said (on the repeat) that the network news are better sources of information than the cable news networks. That is absolutely true!

He would have made a fine President, IMO. And this is coming from a Wes Clark supporter.
