Who's looking forward to Condescenda testifying?
Edited on Sat Apr-03-04 11:41 PM by Octafish
It's going to be most interesting to hear what she has to say, as well as see how she says it. Politex counted three lies in 10 minutes from her 60 Minutes interview last weekend, reminding us that she wasn't under oath.

10 Minute Rice: Three Lies And No Apology

Condi Rice, Bush's National Security Adviser, appeared on 60 Minutes Sunday evening, but, unlike Bush anti-terrorism adviser Dick Clarke at the 9/11 Probe, she did not swear on the Bible that what she would say would be the truth. While Clarke on 60 Minutes last Sunday allowed himself to be probed and turned inside and out for nearly the entire program, the edited tape of the Rice interview with Ed Bradley lasted around 10 minutes, and she said nothing new. The short episode came across as political spin to control the bleeding, and nothing more.

Rice's Lie #1 (transcript)

DICK CLARKE (video):
I said 'Mr. President, we've done this before. We - we've been looking at this. We looked at it with an open mind, there's no connection.' He came back at me and said, 'Iraq, Saddam - find out if there's a connection.' And in a very intimidating way. I mean, that we should come back with that answer....

CONDOLEEZZA RICE:
I - I have never seen the president say an - anything to an - people in an intimidating way, to try to get a particular answer out of them. I know this president very well. And the president doesn't talk to his staff in an intimidating way to ask them to produce information - that is false.

OUR RESPONSE:
Clarke and two others were in the room with Bush. The others have gone on record as agreeing with Clarke's description of the meeting. Condi was not present.

Rice's Lie #2 (transcript)

Do you think Condi will lie more than a rate of 3 lies per 10 minutes? If not, what rate do you predict? Mine is she'll hit a rate of l0 lies per 10 minutes, or 1 LPM.

No matter what she says, she's going to end up showing the American people that Bush is an idiot, Cheney's in charge, and the whole freaking badministration are incompetent fools, at best; traitors, most likely.

under one lie per minute. I think she will S-T-R-E-T-C-H her answers out better that that.

She WON'T give Bush away as a fool, nor will she give up that Cheney is in charge. You are fooling yourself with that talk.

4. Smirk and Sneer will testify together.
That's what they got in exchange for giving up the "executive priviledge" claim on Condi's testimony. In asking for (and receiving) the right to make statements together in a criminal/military/political/counterterror investigation, they have admitted who's in charge. Cheney. Otherwise, why would an underling testify on his boss's behalf? Can't the crazy monkey talk?

Don't believe this fool? Fine. Read NEWSWEEK, a Washington Post company.

The Wizard of Oz Letter

Bush pulls back the curtain on who really runs the White House

WEB EXCLUSIVE
By Eleanor Clift
Newsweek
Updated: 1:50 p.m. ET April 02, 2004

April 2 - This was the week the curtain got pulled back on the Bush presidency. In exchange for allowing Condoleezza Rice to testify under oath, President Bush gets to bring along his vice president when he appears privately before the commission.

A top Republican strategist dubbed the legal document striking the unusual deal “the Wizard of Oz letter” because it strips away the myth that Bush is in charge. Until now, it’s been all speculation about Vice President Cheney’s influence. With the revelation of the tandem testimony, nobody with a straight face can deny Cheney is a co-president or worse, the puppeteer who pulls Bush’s strings.

Aside from being fodder for the late-night comics, the arrangement confirms Bush’s inability to articulate anything without a script--or a tutor by his side. There’s a reason lawyers don’t take testimony in groups. The whole idea is to get individual recollections and then compare stories to uncover contradictions. Try thinking about it this way: can anyone imagine Bush’s father in a similar situation bringing his vice president? (For those who need a refresher course, the elder Bush was a rocket scientist compared to his son, and the vice president was Dan Quayle.)

This is a defining moment in the Bush presidency because it reveals weakness at the top.

All the pundits will applaud every word she says.

They will say that her wonderful testimony disproves Richard Clarke's and shows that George W. Bush made fighting terrorism a priority pre-9/11.

The pundits will say that her upcoming testimony somehow proves Clarke was wrong that she was unfamiliar with the term "Al Quaeda" the first time he used it to her.

Why on earth would one look forward to the bogus-punditry of next week?

Because it's under oath, Condescenda will help pin all sorts of things on Bush.

Regardless of whether they are true or not: What she says will be in the public eye and ear.

And you know what? People will compare what she has to say to Clarke. I don't know about you, but I believe Clarke.

17. The Rising Of Lowered Expectations
This regime always gets a pass with just getting by.

All Condi will do is smile a lot, use lots of big words about nation security and tap dance and lie with a big smile on her face. While the words will be wrong, the smile is what will be send across the TV tubes.

The pisser is we should not judge her by her looks or that she's a woman...the underlying kid gloves the media will give her right off the bat (no one wants to see a "battered woman") and then as long as she doesn't get pissed off, she comes off as she's won.

This woman should be held accountable for gross negligence, not trumpted as some kinda hero.

9. Yes, oasis, Thompson is a turd of the BFEE.
What a piece of scheiss he is was revealed in his treatment of Clarke. What kind of man would insult a public servant who'd served four presidents -- check that -- three presidents plus a selected governor admirably? All Clarke has done in his adult life is serve the United States. What's Big Turd Jim ever done? Ever?

Here's what Medium Rarey has to say about the longtime thug:

911 Commission - Forgedda Boudit

By Jim Rarey 12-29-2

EXCERPT...

Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson was the longest serving governor in Illinois history completing four terms in office leaving in 1991. He is currently chairman of the large Chicago-based law firm Winston and Strawn. While he was governor, sensational charges were leveled against him and the law firm by Chicago author and investigator Sherman Skolnick. Skolnick claimed that the First National Bank of Chicago had loaned (Communist) China billions of dollars to be repaid in gold. When China defaulted on the gold payments, according to Skolnick, the CIA and bank arranged for massive amounts of high purity heroin to be smuggled into the U.S. in lieu of the gold payments. Skolnick alleged shipments came in through Joliet, just south of Chicago, and were supervised by Thompson and the Winston and Strawn law firm. As with most claims of CIA involvement in illegal drugs, nothing came of the allegations. Thompson got caught in the middle of a messy political battle between outgoing Governor George Ryan and Attorney General Jim Ryan, both Republicans. Ryan was running against Democrat Rod Blagojevich, the victor and incoming governor. At the same time AG Ryan was suing Governor George Ryan over the pardoning of death row inmates.

George Ryan hired former governor Jim Thompson to defend against the lawsuit. Blagojevich had railed in his campaign against the 26 years of Republican corruption and mismanagement. That included 12 of the years when Thompson was governor. To the astonishment of practically everyone, Blagojevich appointed Thompson to lead his transition team.

On the other hand, a large number of the American people don't know what to believe. A nationwide broadcast showing Condi lie (or evade to remain technically in compliance with said "oath") and squirm in front of the cameras is the perfect ticket for readjusting, or "defining," Bush in the public's mind as an incompetent moron, at best.

It will be at least somewhat interesting just watching the event; the questions, answers, eyes, expressions, comfort, etc., as she reacts/responds to the questions. It would be telling to see the audience and their reactions to the testimony, though I can't imagine that happening.

The rate of "three lies per 10 minutes" certainly seems attainable to the condinator given her (oh-so-tiresome) ability to use so many words to say so very little.

Sure would have been nice had * offered to testify alone without sneer; to put at some miniscule effort behind that whole honesty/integrity thing...yeah, like that would happen.

OTOH, I supose it would've been dissapointing if he'd let us all down and displayed at least some backbone. Speaking in front of a panel, under oath, in public, on the TEEVEE without a script? Who the hell would ever expect such a thing? </sarcasm>

Oh well, let the puppet show begin!

White House Faces Disclosure Suit
Group Says Government Had Braced for Anthrax Attacks

Washington Post/Associated Press
Saturday, June 8, 2002; Page A11

A conservative group is suing the Bush administration for access to documents about last fall's anthrax attacks, asserting that top officials might have known the bioterrorist attack was coming.

Judicial Watch said yesterday it has yet to receive documents from several agencies after filing requests under the Freedom of Information Act. The group says the documents will show who knew what, and when.

Judicial Watch, which also has sued for documents about Vice President Cheney's energy task force, represents U.S. postal workers at the Brentwood post office in the District. Two workers from Brentwood died of inhalation anthrax before officials closed the site, which had handled anthrax-laden letters headed to Capitol Hill.

Larry Klayman, chairman of Judicial Watch, said administration officials said last fall that some White House staff members had begun taking the antibiotic Cipro on Sept. 11, weeks before the anthrax attacks were made public.

23. Time Magazine.says shes practicing

snip

Rice is prepping for her testimony by reviewing briefing books that she studied for a private session with the commission in February, and she will be peppered with mock questions from aides. Sources tell TIME that Rice plans a 20-minute opening statement to make the case for the Bush team.

She's likely to stress the Administration's efforts to overthrow the Taliban before 9/11. She told TIME last month the Bush team was out not only to "arm the Northern Alliance in an important way but also to find and develop relationships with southern tribes so that you could get the Taliban where it hurts."

She is said to be galled by Clarke's critical comments because, say Rice associates, she went out of her way to keep the career aide in a top-tier position, against the advice of Administration officials who thought she should jettison someone so cozy with the Clinton national-security team.

27. She's going to need more than a 20 Minute Opening Statement.
It's like a George Bush commercial where he reads the script off the teleprompter. His beady little eyes move from side to side, just over his lopsided smirk. And it's not that he's some arrogant drunken frat-boy, the world sees he's a crazy moron.

In Condescenda's lowdown, she'll glare from under an enormously imposing forehead. Unfortunately for her and our country, that’s all she’s got. The reality is, all that’s inside Condi’s cavernous cranium is what got put in there by the Hoover Institution. That means that in thought, deed and word, she's really dumb as a box of rocks, no matter what her IQ or how many oil tankers are named after her.

Those who need proof need only consider whatever comes out of her mouth is a disaster. So far, since the Chinese captured our spy plane, all her advice has been wrong. From the disasters of 9-11, Afghanistan and Iraq.

If Condi had any brains, she would have dropped her plans for Star Wars and the Iraq Invasion. Then, she would have listened to Clarke. But, no. Instead, she’s a “know-it-all” like Sneer and Rummy and TurdBlossom. And, alas, we are a lot worse off as a country, planet and specie for her participation as National Security Advisor for an unelected fraud.

As far as being steamed that she kept Clarke on and is now getting it in the back from a disloyal employee: Hokum. She kept on the only person from the Clinton White House (and his team, from what I can get out of the news reports) who had a clue about counter-terror. I pray there are more than a few good people on the 9-11 commission.

Also important: Thanks for the heads-up, bluedog! Much obliged!

Never one to put patriotism ahead of profits, the war criminal turned down his country. No problem for us or Bushler. Tom Kean, K's replacement, does business Big Time with people soaked in Petrodollars. From GlobalResearch.ca:

Now you would think that being a business partner of the brother in law and alleged financier of "Enemy No. 1" would be considered a bona fide "conflict of interest", particularly when your mandate --as part of the 9/11 Commission's work-- is to investigate "Enemy No. 1".

She must expend the greater share of her brain power keeping all her lies straight. Perhaps otherwise, she'd see how utterly ridiculous the "advice" she's provided the Chimperor really is. Not that his decisions result from the advice provided by the National Security Advisor, but from pre-9-11 and the day of 9-11 and all the days since, every thing Bush does is wrong.

"Too bad for the nation," Bush says. "A tragedy for America," DUers say. I hope the commission asks her about that.
