Large number of callers demanding our show be taken off the air

and told him that I look forward to listening to Guy on the web every Saturday. In fact, I have donated money to the show hoping it will help to keep him on the air. It has become somewhat of a ritual for me when I am home. On the days that I have to be somewhere else, I catch up later by listening to his show thanks to White Rose Society.

Dear Mr. Watkins,

Thank you for permitting your station to manifest its support for the best democratic traditions of The United States of America by allowing Guy James time on your radio station to air The Guy James Show. I am a regular listener each week from Canada via the internet stream and from time to time call in to the show myself.

Over the last few years I, along with many other Canadians, have been seriously disturbed at the apparent unwillingness of mainstream US media to examine and question President Bush and members of his administration on some critical issues surrounding US foreign and domestic policy. From an outside observer, it appears that the corporate media in the US has given up their role of being a watchdog for the public interest to becoming a lap dog for the President's interest. I am very encouraged and relieved by the dedication and courage of Americans like Guy James who have shown their fellow citizens and the rest of the world that the true spirit of the ideals expressed by your founding fathers in documents such as your Constitution and your Declaration of Independence will not easily be taken away from the people of the United States.

I understand that your station is coming under fire by some of your fellow citizens for allowing The Guy James time to broadcast over your facilities. If Guy James were refused air time on your station, it would be one further confirmation to me that democracy in the United States is in danger of being destroyed, not be external enemies but by US citizens who outwardly are professing to uphold and defend the constitution while at the same time weakening and oposing its roles in defending the freedom of US citizens and serving as an example of the type of civil liberties we should all be striving for throughout the world

When making your decision as to whether or not Mr. James deserves to have a voice on your station, please consider the words of your former President, Theodore Roosevelt,

"'To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public,' Roosevelt wrote. 'Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else.'"

Dear Mr. Watkins,

I am extremely concerned that callers to your station are so narrow minded that
they demand something that does not represent the listeners as a whole. The people who call with demands to remove The Guy James Show have no more regard for you, the business executive, than they do Guy James.

I would assume you did not get this far in the broadcasting business by listening to
critics that have a beef with content that does not fit their ideology. I am quite sure if you carry worship service on that station, not all denominations agree on the content. If that be the case, do you pull the person who is paying for the air time because maybe a person of a different faith disagrees with the person on your airwaves?

My cousin had many radio stations in Florida and became quite successful in Nashville.
He did not become successful by letting callers dictate to him. Perhaps you have heard of him. His name is Harold Shedd, who later produced Alabama, Shania Twain,
The Kentucky Headhunters, Billy Ray Cyrus and others. His start, however was in radio and in Florida.

The purpose of a show such as Guy's, is to give at least one half of the country a voice and information whether pleasant or not. It is however truthful. Mr. Watkins,
I do not particularly like to hear the grizzly news of the day but wouldn't I be silly calling the Station manager and asking them to please take that offensive information off of the air. It offends me. How dare you offend me. That just simply is not reality .

President John F. Kennedy said in 1962, We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is afraid of its people.

Theodore Roosevelt--1918 said.....Free speech exercised both individually and through a free press , is a necessity in any country where people are themselves free.

We are hoping that you maintain the better side of the media allowing for dissent of the minority of those in power today to have a voice. It is imperative that the people who listen with enthusiasm be allowed equal protection. Those who are calling you do not have to listen. I choose not to listen to Rush Limbaugh. that is my choice, but in a country where there is supposed to be Freedom of Speech, whether I agree with Rush's content or not, I would never demand he be unplugged from the airwaves. My husband fought in Vietnam and is disabled and I would think that price that he paid as a veteran was not so easily dismissed.

Portland, Oregon. And then I listen to the archived show.
Even with Air America, this man's voice is welcome and
needed in my life.

I just wanted to voice my support for this show, as word

smear campaign against the show for some language against
President Bush.

Please don't let that organized pack of attack dogs influence
