I can't #%$# believe it!
Everybody knows the Pugs stole the 2000 election.

Most of us know or suspect LIHOP or worse.

Half the people of my acquaintance think the Pugs murdered Paul Wellstone.

Bush has been caught out in 870,201 documentable lies, not the least of which are the ones currently responsible for hundreds of Americans and thousands of Iraqis dying.

Major players have defected from his administration in disgust, carrying tales of ugly deeds in the White House.

He has to take Cheney with him to the 9-11 Commission, and even Newsweak is portraying him as a Charlie McCarthy.

And this idiot actually has a chance of re-election in November?

How did I get here? Did I follow a white rabbit or something? Alice--Hey, Alice--Are you here somewhere? Help!

2. What continues to astound me...
is that the biggest mass murder in U.S. history is being treated by this collection of sociopaths as a major victory...something to keep referring to! Only in BizzaroAmerica would Bush* be bragging about 9/11!

15. Welcome to DU Bill!
Yes THAT is the problem- how easy the herd is
coaxed to the edge of the cliff.
Without a doubt, there has never been a more IGNORANT
population concentrated in one country in the history of
the world.
I do not think Americans are stupid, they are more
accurately ignorant. They are too comfortable
and therefore don't have to KNOW anything of about
matters of any consequence.

I'm afraid the USA has not cornered the market in ignorance and stupidity. People/voters everywhere find it easier to believe things that fit well with what they want to believe. It's easier than doing something, or changing established patterns of perceiving the world.

This is a problem when their votes determine who runs the largest and most expensive military-industrial complex in history.

The good thing about the USA is that a couple of percent of the population are self-aware and critical of their governments policies. Give yourselves some credit! :)

11. I assume you're talking about Wisconsin
I did see that poll, but I think Kerry will win there in November. It appears Bush's ads have made a difference, though. If you want good news, the latest Ohio poll has Bush's approval rating at 46 percent. If Bush loses Ohio, he's done.

Lately, I find myself singing Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone" all the time!

"Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
the place is a madhouse, feels like being cloned
My beacon's been moved under moon and star
Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far ... " :headbang:

I never thought about it just that way, but you're right.

I go with either Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" or Ministry's "NWO" when I just can't handle it anymore.

8. April 2004 Harper's Magazine
It all came together for me in an essay written by Thomas Frank - "Lie Down for America: How the Republican Party Sows Ruin on the Great Plains." Harper's, April 2004

He calls their strategy, the Great Backlash. Citizens are brought into the Republican tent by fueling their anger about cultural issues - i.e. gay marriage.

"Cultural anger is marshalled to achieve economic ends. ...Backlash ensures that Republicans will continue to be returned to office even when their free market miracles fail...."

"...backlash leaders systematically down-play the politics of economics. The movement's basic premise is that culture outweighs ecnomics as a matter of public concern...."

"In the backlash imagination, America is in a state of quasi-civil war pitting the unpretentious millions of authentic Americans against the bookish, deracinated, all-powerful liberal who run the country but are contemptuous of the tastes and beliefs of the people who inhabit it."

Excellent essay that explains a lot!

19. The right has lost all the culture wars
Slavery, corporatism, environmentalism, aryan nation, women's suffrage, decline of the church's powers, civil rights, warmongering, immigration.

No wonder they are so pissed, they lose every time! They are losing now and 'reagan' is becoming a dirty word. Bring 'em on!

17. I think even if Bush* was caught in a sex act, he'd get a pass...
The Repugs would yell that Clinton did it, so how can you criticize Bush*? They'd have the temerity to call the Democrats "hypocrites" for even bringing up the issue. Bush* would do a Jimmy Swaggart and the fundies would say Amen! The majority of Americans, sheep that they are, would say BAA and agree.

22. Yes he has.
And if we don't get the truth out, it will never be heard. Kerry needs to be hammering Bush everyday. Not Cheneyburton, not Condi, not Rove..he needs to be hammering Bush and challenging him on ideas. Bush has no idea his own. Kerry needs to bring the fight to Bush personally. The more Bush is left to fend his own actions, the better Kerry will do.

Kerry needs to pick a STRONG VP..not a favorite "son" or State favorite. Someone who can be seen as STRONG. We are in a war and we need someone who will look, talk and sound strong.

A little food for thought cut up into little bite-sized pieces for the little mind to masticate.

It's this kind of DUMMHEIT that makes Americans SUCH a serious threat to the peace and stability of the planet. After the "yawning boy" flap, which clearly shows that there is NOTHING too petty for *co to LIE about, anyone still confused is simply BRAIN-DEAD. :argh:

Nor do you have reason to assume that I am a fan of Rush Limbaugh's. Nor do I have a "literalist little mind," which the same cannot be said for someone who makes such a statement in response to an honest question.

I've worked just as hard as you have to get this jerk out of office.
