U.S. States With Recall Provisions
Ok, the repukes have made a mockery of the U.S. political system...IMO.

First, it was the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

Then, they stole the 2000 election.

Then, they manipulated votes in 2002 mid-term with the electronic voting machines.

Now, we have this thievery of the Govenorship in Ca.

Here's a list of states who have provisions for a recall. Shall the Dems go after the repukes of these states? Why should they not? Turnaround is fair play...is it not? I am so sick of the crap the repukes have been dishing out and getting away with. Have a look at the list and see what you think. There's also a list of states who used the recall provision and who they recalled and why they used it.

A look at recall laws around the country:

-- Eighteen states and the District of Columbia have provisions for recall elections for elected state officials. In addition, Virginia allows voters to collect signatures to subject state officials to a recall trial presided over by a judge.

The 18 states:

Alaska

Arizona

California

Colorado

Georgia

Idaho

Kansas

Louisiana

Michigan

Minnesota

Montana

Nevada

New Jersey

North Dakota

Oregon

Rhode Island

Washington

Wisconsin

-- Most states with recalls do not require proponents to cite grounds for the recall. Six states, however, do have such a requirement:

Alaska

Kansas

Minnesota

Montana

Rhode Island

Washington

Some details on recall attempts in California:

Do you think it's time for the Dems to start playing the same game? I'm just curious.

2. montana gov. recall would take about 5 minutes
sorry to harp on my home state, since it's so different from the CA situation... but it's comical how little support our Republican governor gets... apparently even freepers think she should step aside

http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-campaign2002/917631/posts

"If the 2004 general election were held today, only 18 percent of Montana voters say they would vote to re-elect Republican Gov. Judy Martz, a Lee Newspapers poll shows.

Democratic challenger Brian Schweitzer would defeat Martz by a 52 percent to 24 percent margin, with 24 percent of the voters undecided, if the 2004 general election were held today, a test matchup in the poll shows."

4. Call for a recall!
If her repuke constiuants don't want her, that a good enough reason! She's doing a poor job of running the state...get rid of her. Start writing some e-mails. It's time to get even!
:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

I would love to see the Dems start a recall in every state that has a repuke Gov!

Besides, it's nice to hope that more Montanans would favor a Democrat for governor next time around, thanks to Martz!

(edit for clarity)

10. Her election is next year
So that's why it probably isn't being discussed.

3. No, I don't think it's time to start playing the game...
...if for no other reason than witnessing the circus this CA recall has become. I wouldn't want to foist that on any other state, and I think that maybe if this plays out, and is shown to be the joke that it is, maybe it won't be tried again. Ok, maybe I'm dreaming, I just want to return to a more civil discourse between those with differing ideas about how to progress, rather than illegal circus cage matches between ideaologues and opportunists...

7. But......
as long as the repukes are in charge, civility will never be the order of the day. If the Dems lose Ca., keep an eye on your electronic voting machines....it ain't going to be pretty. :-)

8. The ReThugs Don't Do Civil Discourse Anymore
They no longer believe they need to. It's all naked power and wealth from now on.
They own the press, they even own the voting machinez. They figure they are unbeatable.

5. I say hell yeah!
The 18 states:

Alaska - Repuke

Arizona - Dem

California - Dem Vote No on Recall and Flynt for Replacement

Colorado - Repuke

Georgia - Repuke

Idaho - Repuke

Kansas - Dem

Louisiana - Repuke

Michigan - Dem

Minnesota - Repuke

Montana - Repuke

Nevada - Repuke

New Jersey - Dem

North Dakota - Repuke

Oregon - Dem

Rhode Island - Repuke

Washington - Dem

Wisconsin - Dem

By my count that's 10 repukes, at 1.5 - 2 million per, let's recall the whole lost of them for 15-20 million. Anyone have Larry Flynt's phone number?

9. Too hard in North Dakota
We did it here first (first gubernatorial recall) but it takes signatures of 25% of the number of votes cast in the last gubernatorial election to recall a NoDak official.

Which is too damn bad, as our legislature is run be people who've all been to the Tom Delay School of Charm and Policy Initiatives.
