Does anyone here listen to Thom Hartmann?
I see lots of posts about the now defunct Mike Malloy show, as well as discussions about the new Air America network, but in my opinion, Thom Hartmann consistently puts out the best progressive talk on air or on the net.

Does anyone here agree with me? Haven't you all at least heard of him?

2. I posted on another thread...
...which promptly dropped out. Many people don't have a Sirius Sattelite radio (like myself), but you can stream the show on the web at radiopower.org from noon to 3 (EST). And since there seems to be a real dearth of programming on the weekend (No DemocracyNow, no Air America except repeats), you can go to whiterose.org and download any show from the past two weeks in mp3 format.

For anyone not familiar but interested in the show, download a Friday show first. Most every Friday, Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) shows up for the second hour and talks some sense, a change from most of the political drivel you'll hear over the airwaves. Overall, Thom Hartmann is my favorite progressive talk show (although I'm already quite fond of Franken's new show).

3. I do the news for the show.
Thom sure does put on a good show - comes loaded with facts on every story.

If you listen on the web, you probably hear Minuteman News Service.

That's part of TBTM. And if you listen closely, the announcer who does the open and close is none other than DU's own thebigidea.

There was stuff that Sym and I had to tend to for the past couple of weeks.

8. you know, I totally forgot about that! Until today...
... when a friend called up and said "I think I hear your voice all the time on the Thom Hartmann show..."

apparently, it isn't an aural hallucination... but SCIENCE FACT!

Scream if you ever need any other nonsense spouted, my dubious associates and I have been doing lots of recording lately... as evidenced by the diabolical link below...

4. Hartmann is a true intellectual
Not only is Thom intelligent and well informed, he can talk to the right wing and cut them down to size in a manner that they do not even realise they are being mowed down. Mike throws them out of his programme as he cannot tolerate "illiteracy". Peter is also very outspoken. Hence both of them draw in the people into their shows to take part in them.

That is the real meaning of a Talk Show.

However, in comparison to Mike Malloy and Peter Werbe, Thom is not a Talk Show host but part of the liberal intelligentsia who would be a great back up for professional Talk Show hosts as Mike and Peter.

I listen to Thom whenever I can and enjoy his immense depth of knowledge.

10. Hartmann...
...evidently signed a deal well before IE went off the air so that he could keep his show up and running without interruption, no matter what. I don't know whether Air America was or would have been interested in his show just judging by the criteria they set up requiring 'entertaining' programming--Thom is rarely funny. Even so, he does fill a vital niche in left talk, that of the earnest, sincere progressive thinker.

By the way, your sig line puts down conservatives, but what I wouldn't give to see REAL, honest, approachable conservatives back in control of the GOP. My sig line describes what these reactionary body-snatchers are doing in their stead.
