If only Air America reached the heartland, where I live
It doesnt come in, into Southwestern Michigan. I went to the peace vigil for the soldiers today, in front of the Post Office, just like I do every Friday for the last 6 months...
Its also a Bring the Troops Home rally
well, theres only 5-10 of us usually, but in this small town thats a lot.
we get a lot of thumbs up and peace signs from people in cars, but today was especially ugly with overtly angry men coming up and yelling at us, the same shite "Pearl Harbour and 9/11! Kill all the Iraqis for attacking us!" These people are clueless..then one man gets in my face (and Im carrying a sign with Michaels picture on it, that says Bring the Troops Home Bring Our Son Home...)
and this man with a re elect Bush hat starts yelling at me and proceeds to walk away yelling "Your group isnt very large!"
I think its time I carried mace when I go to this and as the election looms..as Bush goes down, Im afraid these people could get ugly.
I have the flu and I havent been sleeping well, so today just got to me, and I started crying when those people started yelling . I am unused to such mean-ness, but I guess thats what comes with the territory.
Next time, Ill take mace.
in the meantime, Air America does not reach this town, and I sure wish it would.

1. Hang in there, Mari

Send this note to AA so they know to get right on expanding into your area.

And don't let those idiots get you down. That guy probably doesn't even have a kid serving in a forward area, so what does he care, right?

4. listen on internet, or considering getting xm radio
try the internet radio first and then consider xm if you think it's worth it to buy. xm is about 10 dollars a month and of course you have to pay for satellite radio equipment which could run 2-3 hundred dollars.

6. Well...
I think she means if Air America was on a local station it would give her some solace from the Rush fans.

8. If the Rush fans flicked onto 950 AM and got some real news
and truth, maybe they wouldnt still be thinking Iraq attacked the US on 9/11.
Thats how they still think in this part of the country. Still.

7. Mari, please read this story also from the "heartland"
that was in our local paper yesterday. A young mother who was honorably discharged this summer is now being called back.
She went to the anti-Bush rally in our town Tuesday (when Bush was here in Appleton, WI) with her sign and her kids and attracted the
attention of the local media. This was a front-page article yesterday.

You are very very courageous to go out each and every week doing what you KNOW is the right thing. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or says or does. YOU have the stake in this and you have earned the right to speak out.

I wonder, though, even if AirAmerica were broadcast in areas of the heartland, would people even listen??

9. I think they would, I used to listen to right wing radio for giggles
once, but its too painful now.
So maybe they would just be clicking away on their dial and start listening and get a little truth.
I hope so, someday.
Good letter, maybe the wingnuts today are just angry because people dare to criticize Bush from his own frigging adminstration.

Mari reminds me of a momma grizzly bear that thinks someone's trying to mess with her cubs. You better haul ass out of her way pretty quick before you get made into lunch.

11. Satellite Radio
Edited on Fri Apr-02-04 02:06 PM by JPZenger
I just got an XM satellite radio for the car for $100 at bestbuy. The subscription is $10 a month. For most people, it is the best way to listen to Air America. They also sell adapters so the same radio can be used in the home. A system for both home and car will probably run about $150 to $170.

The one limitation is that satellite radio doesn't work well where there are many tall buildings close by or many underpasses.

If you have Sirius radio, I suggest calling them and asking that they add Air America ASAP.
