Did Karen Hughes come back because Karl Rove is about to be indicted?
The investigation in the Plame matter is heating up. According to a confidential memo leaked to Josh Marshall, Rove may very well be indicted on one or two counts.

Is that why Hughes is back? To take over the politics shop? Is that why she's looking so cocky?

1. didn't she always say she'd come back for the campaign?
Still, the rumor from Josh Marshall is a delicious tidbit to savor.

4. Da poor thing, Karen looking old for her age. Appears near 60
instead of her 51, or is it 52?

Instead of getting Advisors who think for America, Bush has surrounded himself with people who think best for HIM. We are such lolos

9. The Boy Needs A Handler...
They're gonna start trotting out the turd to the Red states and need a babysitter there to tell the press what he really meant when he said what he didn't know what he was saying.

Ms. Huge is there to intimidate the press and keep the boy from looking too stupid. She's always been the buffer. While dim son waw careful hidden away in the White House & Crawford, there wasn't a need for her. Now that they have to bring him on the road, she's baaaaack.

Yep, I remember her saying that would be the case...her kids are important, but not THAT important. Child #1 need her attention.

I'm wondering what Fitzgerald has cooking. He got George Ryan (or at least the indictment) before taking on this job, and has shown although he's a Repugnican, he appears to put the law ahead of the (R).

Obviously losing Rove would be a big blow, but would an indictment do anything? Even if he got "exiled", Rove has too much knowledge and too many chits outstanding to be waylayed in this election. Frogwalk 2005 would be nice, though.

12. She never really left
and she has actually been back FT since January, with that flop of a SOTU address.

I get the feeling Karen has lost her Midas touch, and that all the king's horses and all the king's men can't put Humpty Dumpty together again.

13. Karen Hughes came back because she thinks she can save Bush
Edited on Fri Apr-02-04 08:20 AM by keithyboy
I think she is only soiling her respected stature as one with compassion and critical thinking abilities among the lock-step, war-mongering idiots in this administration. Karen, it's too late. Condi and PNACers have Bush's ear. Go back to your family, they need you more.

19. She NEVER had compassion and critical thinking abilities!!
When I think of her "explaining" how Bush came to his stem cell decision, it was OBVIOUS that SHE designed the whole thing and the whole issue so that HE would look campassionate, when HE wasn't and SHE wasn't. NO CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS INVOLVED THERE EITHER..

She must care a lot for her family to desert them when she said she had only their interests at heart.<sarcasm> Does anyone wonder what kind of man would marry HER? I'm not talking about the "strong woman" schtick..I'm talking about the DECEITFULNESS. If she's this way in her marriage, wonder why he doesn't commit suicide or get divorced. Maybe HE loves his boy.

15. That works for me.
I'd love for Joe Wilson et ux to get some satisfaction.

Hughes is a piece of work, but I'm almost happy for her. My guess is that Rove ran her out, so if she gets some satifaction over Rove, I'll delight in it for a fleeting moment because he's such a prick.

They were saying on ABC GMA that her emergence was to construct the message over the Condiliar problem, and then she'd be gone, then back again for the last three months of Bush's campaign.

Frankly, I hadn't thought of the Rove indicted angle. I think she's coming back because she thinks and writes just like Bush, she understands him, and they need the help. You saw the story about the FBI translator who swears there WAS specific warning about planes BEFORE 9/11? The government is invoking the rarely-used state secret law to silence her.

22. KAREN NEVER LEFT !!! She just worked from her home
She "outsourced" herself back to Texas, so she could "help" with the redistricting thing.. Check the timeline.:(

Nothing happens by accident with this crew...

She has been on the Bush payroll for years, and there's no way that she would ever "leave".. They just cooked up that story to fit the "home and family" image..
