24. this show is Not Good

I have to say that I've been waiting for this. I didn't expect Franken to be that good on radio, after seeing him on CrossFire. And, my expectations were met. I'm disappointed with the first show so far. I don't expect much from Garafolo either, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. I like them both, but they are not radio hosts.

But, so far, it's REAL BORING.

I suspect if won't be too long til I go back to listening to Thom Hartmann live, which runs at the same time. It's a MUCH BETTER and MUCH MORE INFORMATIVE show.

I'm am looking forward to Randi Rhodes though. She is more of a sure thing, and the true radio star of this Air America Radio network, imo.

Looks to me like they depserately need some personalities like MIKE MALLOY that will give the reactionaries hell. I miss i.e.america radio and Mike Malloy and Peter Werbe.

yes, you're right, ... I can turn it off. That's always an option. It's only the first show, so I'd listen to a few more before taking that step. Fortunately, Thom Hartmann is on as a real good alternative.

But, I'll express my opinion on this show nonetheless. You can, too. Isn't free speech great?

so, with hartann on and others via streaming, we all have a choice. and that's what this is all about. sometimes i find hartmann just too buttoned-down. so i'm enjoying these bits of satire with franken. now, there's another choice for me. i think that's what's so great about all this. something for everyone on the left instead of wall to wall o'reilly et al. all of a sudden, it all feels balanced.

I'm willing to give Franken a chance. Some say "it's only the first show." But, I'd think that of all the shows that the most work to be a good show -- to bring out the good stuff and to get people's attention -- would be the first show. But, I'll continue listening to a few more shows. I find Hartmann's show to be really interesting and really informative. They ought to put Hartmann on AIr America as well in some time slot. Peter Werbe, too.

Malloy was and is informative. He expresses strong opinions. He takes on the right HEAD ON. He has hugely funny sound clips of BushCO. He brings out current news stories of the day and talks about them.

Geez, ... where's all the talk by Franken of the 5 American soldiers that just got killed today? About Iraqis burning bodies, dragging them through the streets and hanging them from a bridge? Do you think that this doesn't play well in Middle America? Middle America would probably be real interested in this news and especially in a slightly different take on it, than what is given in the corporate mass media.

Why isn't Franken talking about current news stories of the day? And, making them interesting. And, telling Middle America why these stories are important.

Franken's show just sounds very shallow so far and it'll likely be dismissed as "left" or "liberal propaganda". You counter that with informative and entertaining discussion of news and facts. Franken is not cutting it with this show, imo.

AND, one last thing: MIKE MALLOY was the BEST.

As cheesy as it sounds, they need better, more glitzy production. They need to pick up the pace considerably, too. I like Franken quite a bit, but the radio act needs to be tightened up, IMHO.

It's not really informative at all. Where's the talk of the current news of the day? Just more "talking points" expressed by Wesley Clark supporter Michael Moore. It's the same stuff over and over. No one has bought before, and it won't work now in this format.

I'm loving it so far. Sure there's kinks to be worked out, but on the whole it's been great. Randi Rhodes was the one I was really looking forward to but I'm a fan of Al and I think he's gonna be great. He's got a lot of potential, he just needs to get used to the gig.

This isn't microwave popcorn it's a radio show, give them a little time to get settled, get into a rhythm, etc. If I plopped you in front of a microphone and told you to talk to millions of people for three hours, with no experience, I doubt you'd sound perfect the first day.

and haven't had too many problems. I tuned in about 40-45 minutes before the show started to make sure I had some space on the server. I haven't had too many problems at all with this stream.

Franken is not the best radio talent in the world, but the show is pretty funny. Randi is much better, mainly because she's been doing it for so long. I think she'll emerge as the true star of the network. And the network would benefit greatly if they had Malloy--he's too damned funny not to be on. We want Mike!
