3. Ambiguous question...
Would his selection keep me from supporting the ticket? Hell, no.
Would there be better choices for the number 2 slot? Hell, yeah.

6. Agreed: It Should be Either:
- Would you vote for Kerry with Gephardt as VP?

OR

- Do you think Gephardt would make a good VP pick?

4. Misread the choices
Voted Absolutely, meant NOT.

As I've said in another thread, I don't think he's a good choice. We really need a dynamic VP candidate, which Gep ISN'T. He's boring, and I'm not sure he can even deliver Missouri.

7. Just so I understand before I vote.
Are you asking would I support Gephardt as VP after Kerry chooses him, or do I support now the idea of having Gephardt as VP?

8. Hans Blix would say: "you should have been more skeptical about Iraq"
No
No No No
No No No No No No No

Pelosi figured it out. Dennis figured it out. You should have known better than to follow the Bushies blindly into the hellfire (unless that is what you wanted).

10. Ugh
Gephardt is the embodiment of everything wrong with the Democratic Party. I'd rather run Lieberman again.

22. everything wrong?
Gephardt has strong ties to labor and went against Clinton on NAFTA. His connection with organized labor is why I like him - out of the major candidates I wanted him to win the presidential nomination the most. He is a church-going Midwesterner, his father was a Teamster. He is Mr. Average American, but he strongly supports labor and a progressive agenda. Putting aside policy, people in LA or San Francisco or New York might prefer a "sexier" candidate, but I think a plainspoken working class Midwesterner might go down better in the battleground Midwesterner states. And due to his strong labor times, I like him.

28. Soulless, spineless, radiates anti-charisma...
The one thing in his favor is that he makes Kerry look like a freaking rock star.

11. Yes, but I don't think he's the best choice
Kerry should pick either Dean or Edwards. Dean, because he energizes the youth vote and can motivate people. Edwards, because he's a good speaker and for geographical reasons.

12. Gephardt made a deal with Bush on IWR
& didn't tell the Senate Dems...they were left twisting slowly in the wind.

Gep, above all others, caved to Bush.

Therefore, I'm not really thrilled with the idea.

14. Wesley Clark
I voted 'absolutely support' above because I think Gephardt is a good choice. He's known more than anything, and maybe anyone, as someone who looks out for the working man. That's a real good thing in the context of an outsourcing jobless recovery. Beyond that is simple ABB. I didn't really even have to think about the question.

He's not my first choice though.

I'm surprised that more Democrats, even after Richard Clarke, still don't seem to understand how important Bush's abject failure to attend to threats of domestic terrorism before 9/11 is to this election.

It's not an easy issue to attack. The one person both able and unafraid to go after this issue, and that includes Kerry himself, is Wesley Clark. He showed that before there was any cover fire, and he does it very well. I don't think I can overstate this.

17. One thing...
Hate to bring up Primary hate again, but the Deaniacs that were hardcore are reaching to support Kerry. You bring Gephardt in, I think they're gone. I'm ABB/hardcore Deaniac, but I'm one of the few I think.

19. remember this, if Kerry picks
Gephardt as a running mate, he will lose..Gephardt does too much talking just like Kerry does, they both drag out a point so much that it gets boring and they're both childish when they complain about attacks on them. He should pick Gov Richards or Hillary. We need a VP that can be president..

23. I would oppose it unless he is chosen
then support them both.

There are sooooooo many superior choices out there! Clark, Dean, Edwards, Graham, argh!

No matter how many votes Gep brings in, he will lose many more.
