54 vacation days in 8 months - Month long vacation Aug 01
Can someone please tell me why no one from our side is shouting this from the rooftops?

You have people "running around with the hair on fire" saying that there is a "spectacular" attack in the works against the US... and our President & VP are taking month long vacations????

Why the hell doesn't every Dem being interviewed bring this up? Yet again we have this huge talking point we could be using and no one is saying it! For once I wished we'd get it right! I can guarantee you that if you stopped 100 people on the street NONE of them would remember that Bush was taking a MONTH long vacation during this time.

I have e-mailed this thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=1302535 to everyone in my address book. I got into this huge discussion with a co-worker about this tonight. He too had forgotten about the vacation. He's not a true Freeper but he leans more that way and he doesn't care much for Clinton. After reminding him about the vacation he was like "there's no way in hell they can say they were doing everything possible" when they were all on month long vacations. I mentioned Clarke saying that when there was this type of threat level in the Clinton White House that he held daily meeting with FBI, CIA, etc. He tried to shake loose as much info from all of the agencies possible. Co-worker said "Don't suppose he had too many of those meeting down on the ranch!"

We have a chance to wake people up in this country and there is just so much that our people are not saying. It's driving me crazy. The vacation issue should be a huge and it's not. Why?

2. Thank you AnnitaR!
I can't get over this point. I think it's so damning.

I only wish I had proof-read the first post!

4. What shocked me was
the fact that he took the same month long vacation in 2002. As August approached I thought, "there's no way shrub will take the month off, not after what happened the last time". I was amazed that with bin Laden still on the loose he would dare deem himself worthy of a vacation. His arrogance knows no bounds.

5. I think he had to repeat the first vacation, as a cover story
They did it the first time to save themselves from the attacks. The next year they had to bolster their previous cover story.

12. Why not take a vacation?

By then,Bin Laden was a distant memory.

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts,
3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)

6. It's us, but it's the media as well.
When has the media EVER gone after Bush? Especially with the furor that they are going after Kerry with right now?

I don't see how pointing out he took this vacation will do anything...I've pointed it out to the Republicans on other boards...Aug. 6th memo and all.

It is my belief that the Repugs all ready have their mind made up as do we...I fail to see how many people this would sway. If it could get people on the fence to fall for our side, sure. But the media won't pay no mind.

Sorry for rambling. I just think this is going to be very tough for Kerry even if we do get all this info out...We can't make the media report it.

There. All done. My first post!

8. I'm not saying that.
I just think these guys are ahead of us and we have a lot of catching up to do...

Not impossible. But it will be hard. I am in no way admitting defeat. But to say Bush and company doesn't own the major press right now would be naive...

Thanks for the welcome, hehe.

10. Major issues.
I hope Kerry takes the fight to Bush...HARD!

We've got Diebold...no paper trail...how do we get an accurate recount if it's close? Then we have one of Diebold's top executives saying his goal is to deliver Ohio to George Bush. Can someone here say BIAS?

Florida...'nuff said.

The lies will keep coming too, Kerry is doing a good job at his website of debunking a lot of these. But he needs to start attacking Bush with Bush's own lies...I think he will.

Sorry if my first post sounded like we had no chance...I'm just growing impatient watching Bush jump on our guy, and noone calling him on it...

14. Ok.
Fine. Ask me the questions to help me better explain my positions.

I'm a member of the Bill Maher board too, have close to 4,000 posts. I use the same name there, if you doubt my sincerity just look there. I'll make it easy for you: www.billmaher.com.

I've barely posted here and I've all ready been called incompetent?

I want Bush out just as badly as ANYONE here. I waited to post for a long time here, because of just this kind of thing. I've actually been registered here for many months. Ask a moderator.

16. Tell me you are NOT serious?
Everyone in Washington gets a vacation sure... but does that make this okay...

"The White House had announced that Bush would stay at his 1,600-acre ranch in Crawford from Aug. 4 through Labor Day on Sept. 3, a 31-day stretch that would have broken a modern record for a presidential vacation, held by Richard M. Nixon for a 30-day trip to San Clemente, Calif., in 1969. News reports played up the record, and a Gallup Poll found that 55 percent of respondents thought Bush's vacation was too long."

"he will have spent all or part of 54 days since the inauguration at his parched but beloved ranch. That's almost a quarter of his presidency.

Throw in four days last month at his parents' seaside estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, and 38 full or partial days at the presidential retreat at Camp David, and Bush will have spent 42 percent of his presidency at vacation spots or en route."

Keep in mind this was the spring/summer of threat! You still want to defend this?

I will continue to "BITCH" about the President being on a month long vacation when everyone was saying there was an imminent attack from Bin Laden in the works!
