Clinton actually was the one in his admin to push focus to bin Laden &
al-qaeda.

When asked if he had focused Clinton's attention on bin Laden and al-qaeda Clark said it was the other way around and that Clinton was the one who pushed the issue of terrorism and al-qaeda. I hope there is a transcript to confirm. The Freepers must be messing in their pants over that!

(I thought this deserved a thread of its own.)

1. I heard that and it surprised me. I think they will use that comment
against him. He was the one who would have brought AQ and OBL to Clinton's attention.

3. Clinton would have caught OBL
If only Gore was handed the reigns from Bill he could have stopped 911. Why are we not pushing this FACT?

4. World Trade Center first bombed in 93
Then came the African embassies, the Saudi Tower, the Cole. With all those attacks in eight years, what did he ever do but watch terrorists graduate out of Afghan training camps every summer for eight years and spread around the world?

Not impressed.

5. He caut the culprits without an unnecessary war .
It was up to Bush to go after the Cole attackers but because the incident happened at the end of Clinton's term, they didn't touch it.
What his administration did was stop five millenium attacks at home and abroad. Because they were prevented it didn't make the headlines. Everyone in national security and intel from the FBI, CIA, and NSA has testified to that.

6. But he left the camps in Afghanistan
free to graduate class after class of terrorists. You think that's acceptable?

8. Yes, Bill, had nothing else occupying his mind for 8 years.
The Republican majorites were very supportive of the Clinton's administration use of the military to deal with AQ. They didn't complain about "wagging the dog" or "you can support the troops without supporting the President" or "no nation building in Kosovo".

I'm sure if the WTCs had fallen on Bill CLinton's watch and the Pentagon had taken a direct hit, they would not have called for his impeachment on 9/12. No, the Republicans only call for impeachment when a President lies about sex.

What's really unforntunate for this country is that we had a really outstanding, even brilliant President who had to work with the most partisan, vicious, and hypocritical Congress that any President in my lifetime has had to contend with. In spite of them, he managed to give us a great economy and he had the world's respect for his leadership.

Contrast him with Dimson who, despite have his Party's majority in both Houses, is a total disaster of the highest magnitude.

Gee, and with that Republican House majority, why wasn't he able to deal with all those terrorists before 9/11?

7. Sadly we don't have the other O'Neill to testify
John O'Neill (FBI) would have had quite a few things to say about Clinton vs Bush* with regards to Al Qaeda.
