Local story: "Mom doubts story of son's death." Iraq

SNIP..."LAKELAND -- The mother of a Marine killed last year in the worst "friendly fire" incident of the Iraq war said Monday she does not think she has gotten the entire story about her son's death...."

SNIP..."Cpl. Nolen Hutchings, formerly of Lakeland, was one of 18 Marines killed on March 23, 2003, the fourth day of the war, near the city of Nasiriyah in southern Iraq, amid a chaotic battle with Iraqi forces....."

SNIP..."I really don't know if I am satisfied that they told us everything," Carolyn Hutchings said. "A captain came by from Camp Lejeune (N.C.) on Saturday and told us about the report. He said if he could do anything for us to let him know."

And the Hutchingses just may let him know.

The U.S. Central Command, which investigated the incident, said it planned to publicly release its final report after the last of the Marine families involved had been briefed on it Monday. The investigation's findings were first reported Sunday by the Los Angeles Times and the Baltimore Sun....."END SNIP
