This deserves its own thread. I am in LA and I am watching the TODAY SHOW which broke in with the Condi Story live on the West Coast. Russert just reported that both Bush and Cheney will testify (in private) in front of the entire commission. They must really be scared shitless.

4. That aint going to happen. . .
. . .I would love to see it, but we got Condi. Besides both Clinton and Gore were allowed to testify in private. Just the fact that they caved and agreed to testify in front of the entire panel and let Condi testify is very telling.

2. In private means nothing
it has to be in public and under oath.

3. What, for ten minutes apiece? And no transcript? And no note taking?
These arrogant bastards will NOT testify without numerous restrictions on the ability of the commission to effectively do its job.

7. What?
Are they still stonewalling? If you've got nothing to hide, let them do their jobs and perform an investigation that isn't questionable.

5. I don't care if it's private...as long as they're under oath!

9. They Only Give in When Their Position is Weak
like the plane shot down near China.

Regardless of what Condi, Cheney, and Bush say, this is an admission of weakness. Stonewalling obviously doesn't work any longer.

10. Didn't we already know this? Or is this brand new?
When Bush was on MTP a month or so ago, he said: "I don't testify" in his best cowpoke accent. He said he agreed to talk privately to the commission, for only one hour. The WH later rescinded and said that he'd talk for more than an hour if need be, he would not just get up and walk out after one hour. But it was real clear that he was not going to "testify". I didn't know anything about Cheney.

This would be huge news if they were actually going to testify, under oath, and for the record. We can hope, right?

12. Fantastic!
I only hope there's some actual accountability, in that there are transcripts, it is under oath, etc. Oooooooooh boy!!!

14. I don't trust any of this.
The 9/11 commission itself is tainted. Let alone Bush not testifying under oath. Let alone Condi testifying once and walking away forever questions answered or not.

It's a crock.
