Rising gasoline prices: Kerry campaign has to attack the Bush ad
It's lies and smoke and mirrors. The truth is, nothing that Kerry voted for was ever enacted. The Conservatives maintain their tax cuts, military budgets, etc. and with all that in place, the country is in shambles. Which is worse: criticizing what MIGHT have happened had Kerry's positions been approved and enacted or what is ACTUALLY happening with Bush and the RW having their way?

They have got to hit this hard and fast!!! In all cases, Kerry campaing should speak last on the whatever the Bushites are putting out. The last argument is what the public remembers.

1. Just think, in 1980, J Anderson proposed this, Reagan attacked him

there was no gasolint tax increase and Reagan ran up the biggest deficits in hisotry up to that time. My, my how 50-cent gasoline taxes that are NOT enacted drive up the deficit and the price of gasoline.

"Third Party Candidate

Republican John Anderson ran as an independent candidate, without organizing a party or holding a convention. He chose a Wisconsin democrat, former Governor Patrick J. Lucey, as his running mate on a platform that opposed a constitutional amendment banning abortion, called for a stiff fifty-cent per gallon gasoline tax to discourage use of imported oil, lower social security taxes, and ratification of the SALT II treaty. Anderson managed to have his name placed on the ballots of all fifty states, rising high enough in the public opinion polls to qualify for participation in the debates of presidential candidates sponsored by the League of Women Voters. His advertising campaign, run by media guru David Garth, initially propelled him to 20 percent popularity in the polls, though he would sink as the campaign progressed."
