Republicans shutting down Democrat's methods of communication:
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 09:38 PM by The Backlash Cometh
Write a book that criticizes the Administration and you get accused of profiteering. Use bible quotes that criticize the Administration and you get accused of exploiting religion. Bring a protest sign to a Bush appearance and you get corralled in a "Free Speech Zone."

Republicans and Bush just can't take criticism. So they try to shut down the messenger's method of communication. We need to recognize this strategy and counter it accordingly.

1. Air horns for everyone!
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 09:41 PM by mouse7
If a crowd of 1000 protesters all brought air horns to a protest and started them when the Pres started ranting, I'll bet it would still blot him out 6 blocks away inside a building. ;-)

4. Have fog horn, need car
Ever tried rigging fog horns inside a car to replace the car horn? Honk that bitch and watch everyone shake in horror from half a mile away, if you don't get arrested afterward >:]

9. oil rig lunch buzzer
My room mate at Texas A&M (20+ years ago) thought it a funny
practical joke to put an offshore oil rig lunch buzzer directly
under my top bunk and flick the switch whilst i was sleeping.

It is one of those experiences that engraves itself upon memory,
like a deeply intense burn! Shock! Awe! Yes, bring those fog
horns. :-)

6. And Fox News is still spinning for the right.
Just stopped in to listen to Hannity & Colmes and the female guest (Janet Parshall) just said that Kerry's use of a biblical quote to criticize Bush's compassionate record (or lack of) won't sit well with Americans. But I'm having trouble understanding how, when the Right-wingers have been using biblical quotes to set this country's agenda for well over ten years now. They just used it against gays recently, so how can they now disallow the usage for Democrats?

16. If they want to they can
We are in a window of opportunity when it comes to free communication, and under the wrong circumstances that window could close. The Chinese government, for instance, has a lot of restrictions on communications -- all they've done is modernize their methods of tracking who says what to whom. Mostly what we should be wary of is the increasing ease of information-gathering on the 'Net by our own government.

10. I think I just came up with a counter attack to the bible quote criticism:
Free Speech comes in many forms, and to try to shut down the method of communication because it offends someone's religious sensibility, means that the right-wing are following their own PC rules.

That's it! The right-wing are now claiming that it's not politically correct to use bibilical quotes. We have them by the shorthairs now!

11. Always remember this rule:
Republicans can do anything they want. Democrats must toe the line Republicans tell them to toe.

14. They can accuse, but they can't really stop a damn thing.
Their accusations are only helping Clarke's book sell. Nobody is forcing liberals to shut up, nobody is going out and beating up Bush critics.

17. But the people we need to reach don't have time to read books.
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 07:41 AM by The Backlash Cometh
They're the kind of people who listen to soundbites and very expensive commercials.
