1. Alan FUCKING Colmes follows Garofalo?
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 05:02 PM by thebigidea
That's as bad as Colin Quinn after the Daily Show.

SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME.

I hope that's an XM decision and not Air America, because if they think Alan Colmes is a good idea - phew.

Hell, even I'D do a better job than Alan Freakin' Colmes.

GRRR. Alan Colmes. GRRRR.

OILY GUY ONE: "Quick, this new liberal radio network might be too entertaining, maybe too interesting too. What can we do?"

OILY GUY TWO: "I got just the thing... a little secret ingredient I like to call... Alan."

OILY GUY ONE: "Colmes? Kid, you're a genius. He's perfect. We could help undermine them from within!"

OILY GUY TWO: "If he's good enough for Rupert Murdoch, he's good enough for me."

5. The Colmes show is disgusting
It's nothing but slurping noises as he gives his Repug guests the "Colmes treatment."

11. Mike Maloy should absolute be on the list...why not?
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 05:19 PM by Zinfandel
Is this radio network becoming like the Democratic party, moderate, ugh, so a talented professional, a liberal progressive with intelligence, wit, passion, and a voice made for radio as Mike Malloy, is too far left for this network?

Yes, it is deeply troubling!

17.  I strongly suspect you are correct in your assessment. re. MM
I think Air America will be treading a fine line in not wanting to be seen as too over top in spouting anti-Bush/anti-establishment rhetoric in the early days. They're probably cautious of being stuck by Rush and the other wingers as being part of a radical, treasonous, anti-American left movement and I'm pretty sure one of Mike's typical diatribes against the Impostor in Chief would likely be seen as too incendiary to go on the airwaves under the Air America banner.

No matter what, we know Rush, Hannity and the rest of the winger talk show hosts will throw out the "They're just a bunch of Saddam loving, commie, anti-Americans" charges at Air America and the freepers will accept that this is the case regardless, but I think Air America will be worried about turning off the middle of the road, non-political average Joes or Janes who are likely unaware of the Bush links to corporate corruption, the actions of the BFEE, the role of PNAC in setting gov't policy etc. having only been exposed to the typical corporate propaganda/infotainment news from the cable channels and mainstream broadcasters. They will need to be gently led by the hand, not walloped over the head.

I'm not criticizing MM. I really liked listening to him and have heartily cheered him on from the sidelines. I hope like heck he gets on the air again. But I can see why Air America would figure his style of broadcasting is best avoided especially in the early days of their network.

18. "becoming like" the democratic party?
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 06:49 PM by wyldwolf
Air America is a privately owned company who can hire/fire anyone they please.

Who has said Malloy is too left for them?

Just another example of the persecution complex the far, ugh, left on DU is known for.

And aren't you always complaining about "liberals" being attacked by "moderates" on DU? It is insulting posts like yours that provokes the counter comments that hurt your feelings so much.

8. Randi only gets an hour!?!?
That sucks. I've never heard Ed Schultz but I have a feeling that after everything settles down the host that's going to be the most popular on Air America will be Randi Rhodes. I bet we see XM giving her the full 3-7 time period before too long.

12. a slanted left moderate
and moderately entertaining. I think he's pro-gun and pro-choice, liberal on everything else.

Did you all notice that when you type in channel 167 on a keypad, it makes a "greater than" sign for the left?

14. There should be a new law
Colmes and Liberal should never be mentioned in the same sentence. The few times i've seen that show on "state television" AKA Faux, Colmes was a complete milquetoast. I'm convinced he's a plant.

16. Well...It's better than nothing, I guess.
Unless Sirius gets serious (haha!) and carries Air America as is, it looks like XM is going to get a new subscriber.

ugh, Alan Colmes..... What a sissy.
