I just got an email from the Edwards campaign team asking for money so that they can keep these commercials on the air in Iowa and New Hampshire.

I really like the guy on a personal level, though I'm not quite comfortable with his voting record. And am getting really bored with his small town hero story. Don't get me wrong, love the story, but tired of hearing about it.

1. Good introductions
However, I do think they are a bit too sappy for my taste. I think it is the soft piano music that does it for me. Still, for people who have not heard his story, these are good spots.

Now the big question is will it move his numbers?

2. i don't know if it will move his numbers.
But he needs to be a little firmer about his policies.

4. Great policies in the 60 page online booklet
You can download the PDF file from his web page. It's a 60 page booklet called Real Solutions for America. That's being pretty firm about his policies. And it's not the same old drivel we hear year after year. On taxes, he is not just talking about eliminating Bush's cuts (though those go for the top brackets) but he redoes the capital gains tax structure. You should spend the time to read his platform. If you liked him before, you'll love him after seeing those ads and reading the booklet.
He's the best candidate against Bush. Read it and see why.

5. I agree.
I'm not certain the "daddy" talk with give people a *reason* to vote for him. Trying my best to be objective, I think Edwards is making a strategic error.

10. No, no, no!
Does he use "millworker" and "sharecropper" AGAIN, and AGAIN, and AGAIN?

6. I really wanted to like this guy,
but during the AFL-CIO forum, he didn't show me much of anything, besides constant references to his origins. He needs to show a command of policy, plus a little bit of steel, if he's going to stand out, I think. The potential is obviously there. He has a great story and is telegenic, but it takes more than that.

8. I like that he knows this but doesn't hit people over the head with it.
I like wonks.

But some folks' eyes glaze over when you talk about the top 1% of the 50% who should get tax credits if they go to the 1st of the year blah blah blah.

I think the book is a good idea, I think his instincts about how much to go into it at forums/debates are usually correct.

11. His closing argument at AFL-CIO was perfect.
It's the perfect message for this moment in American history and he's making it better than anyone.

14. They're VERY good.
For some reason, finally my computer was able to load them (maybe the site was too busy before??).

He understands the medium. He speaks naturally and looks comfortable.

I could have lived without the piano music, without any music at all the ads would have been just as effective.

15. My comments on "A Plan"
I like the way he smiles when he recalls the people he worked with at the mill (Bush's father got him a job as President, Edwards's as a mill worker). He smiles when he thinks of them. His message is that he wants an America which rewards work and not wealth. He smiles when he thinks of how he's going to reward people who work that hard with happiness and wealth when he becomes president.

I also like that chair he's sitting in. Not too ornate. Is it Stickley? It's probably the product of good, honest, American crafstmanship, perhaps built 100 years ago by good honest North Carolina craftsman, and it's probably worth some money now because it wasn't a piece of cheap crap built by people who had the love of their craft beaten and bled out of them.

18. Regardless of whether Edwards is the nominee or not
I hope everyone in America sees these ads. They don't necessarily convince me about Edwards, but they do stregthen my resolve against b**h.
They are well-produced, and could be very effective in the fight against shrubco.

20. I saw them,
and I must say, they're great. Edwards is so down to earth, it's just refreshing. He reminds me a lot of Clinton, circa 92.
