Are Rove and Bush (& Condi) actually winning on the Clarke issue?
I watch Condi bumble and stumble, I see Bush* slipping in the polls, I see Dick lying on the stump about Clarke's involvement and I feel like, finally, something is going right - America might just see a return to integrity with the overthrew in November of this evil cabal.

Then, I wonder - are they just willing to scape goat Condi to avoid the bigger issues? Clarke made very damning statements about Iraq. He said the Bush* maladministration has made the world more dangerous by shifting the focus off Al Queda and onto Iraq. Our media has focused on the sexier Condi vs. Clarke battle.

Which issue is bigger and which should be exploited? My money would be on the Iraq screw-up. I'll bet Rove thinks the same and is banking on the Condi issue to pass or not create as much harm so they are gonna ride that horse hoping we will avoid more Iraq discussion.

Lets keep the Clarke/Iraq/Al Queda points up front.

2. They dropped 8 points in approval on their signature issue
According to the Newsweek poll.

If that's winning, I hope they win like that some more.

5. I don't think you need to worry.
Iraq is by default the central issue of the Bush* pResidency. That one is never going away. If for no other reason, * will run on it.

We need to make sure the other issues are not burried, from the Plame scandal to 9/11 to the plundering of taxpayers and the environment.

IMO expending energy to keep the Iraq issue afloat could be better spent elsewhere.

7. It must be pointed out that * has come under attack
repeatedly by those within his administration. I do not think we have seen the last of these patriots come forward. The whole * team has been focused on attacking their own whistle blowers.
Self implosion at its finest.

11. I hope you are right
and I am being a bit of a nervous Nellie. (apologies to anyone named Nellie.) I've seen this administration shift attention so often and with so much cumulative success.

Lets keep them focused on the big issues.

9. Talented
I saw her for a little bit on 60 minutes, well as much as I could take. She did her usual, avoiding of the questions, and putting a good spin on everything. But you start to realize that she is really really good at covering her ass, and that of her bosses. Overall I think they are so good at manipulating those people that actually still trust them and will somehow come out of this with just a little ding unfortunately.

They have a talent for controlling the dumbasses like no one else before them.

13. She only has a talent for fooling those
With no short or long-term memory. If you read the things she has said, she contradicts herself, and directly contradicts what other high-level officials have said. Not that I disagree about her being a Spin-o-matic, LOL. For sure, she is. Sad commentary on the American public if we don't notice it...

And welcome to DU!!

14. Bush has quite a bit time left until election to screw things up even more
Maybe some other brave souls will come forward in support of Clarke, O'Neill, and others.

He already dropped in the polls on his "strongest" issue: War on Terrorism.

I personally will try to be more active in writing to journalist who pick up the hot issue and ask tough questions. I'll also let them know if they wimped out.

Journalists usually get more feedback from people who dislike what was said. If journalists say something bad about King George, all the freepers are sending complaints about the left-wing liberal media. It is time that we do the same: Whenever the media gets it right or messes up, we should let them know what we think.

15. Agreed
I have heard media expert after media expert saying that the shift to the right in media hasn't actually held up by Nielson's but was in response to the tons of mail and email they get from the RW spin machine and its minions. Of course, we can't discount out and out greed...
