Would there be a way to force chimpy into an open press conference?
Forget the debates for a minute. It's a well known fact that * does not handle criticism and probing questions well. By open I mean no scripted questions and answers that have been so commonplace in this WH. I'd love to see chimpy being grilled all night by the likes of Helen Thomas and see our boy melt down. If there was ever a way to force him into an open press conference, I'd love to hear it.

3. If somebody like Dean or Kerry were to say
If somebody like Dean or Kerry were to say Boosh is too chicken to an open press conference(and they would have literally say "chicken"), I'm sure chimpy and Uncle Karl would get mad enough to do it.

But, we might get more scripted bullshit like before.

4. Nothing is stopping DEM candidates from a "Presidential Press Conference"
Edited on Wed Jul-09-03 11:07 AM by Dr Fate
I would love to see DEM candidates have "presidential press conferences" that are rigged to look like the WH press room.

They could say: "Remember when Presidents used to give these all the time, instead of always sending out spokespeople?"

"If elected, I promise that I will answer the tough questions that the Americqan people need the answers to- I will not constantly hide behind spokespeople and media spin-masters, like Bush appears to do."

Wouldnt that be great?

12. yes, great idea
make accessibility a campaign promise, and a campaign issue.

i think i read somewhere that bush* has held fewer press conferences than any of his predecessors since ... (don't remember). and of the ones he has held, some have been scripted/filtered.

making a campaign issue of accessibility and answering questions, would be a great way to smoke out bush* and expose his weaknesses.

5. Don't know, but I'd like to see it.
Traditionally the press conference has been the American equivalent of question time in the British parliament. The Bush admin. has almost destroyed that function, whether because Chimpy makes such a fool of himself with unscripted comments or because of its general penchant for extreme secrecy, I'm not sure.

To make it happen at all he'd have to be ambushed in a "press conference" by a bunch of reporters acting in unison. Probably with some former favorites in on the deal. Think we'll get to the point where that could happen?

8. I'm hoping
that with all the media stories floating around right now with WMD, 9/11 commission and all the rest step up the pressure level in the WH a notch or two.

Just neglect to mention it's organized by "journalistic" donors.

$$$$ talks loud to Bush.

7. double-dog dare him, taunt him, & taunt him a second time........
make a big deal out of his cowardice and his deliberate avoidance of reporters, point out that he seems awfully defensive and cagey.
fuck with him, expose him as the cockroach moron he is.
or......subpeone or indict his ass and get him in a perjury trap under oath, ala Bill Clinton.

9. Realistically, no. However...
I'd like to see the "empty chair" gambit in debates and I think you could make it work for (staged?) press conferences too.

"Mr. President, did you (have you/what do you think)___?"
And then have someone representing * quote (with time, date, and place) from something he said that diametrically opposes what he done. There are PUHLENTY of these.

13. We have been trying to get one of those since he entered the W. H.
It would be wonderful to see him questioned like
anyone else on the planet would be questioned .
