What will Bush do when he LOSES?
There have been more than a few threads discussing what Bush could do to win, but what I'm wondering about is what all do you think he could do when the final tally is in and it is certain that he has lost? Declare Martial Law? Fort up in the White House or the Pentagon, surround himself with loyal troops and refuse to come out? Hit the big red button? Any or all of the above? Other things maybe?

OK, I'm going to stop now before I scare myself.

1. They will take credit for Kerry's booming economy.
Just like they did to Clinton.

3. I'm not talking about that kind of thing
I mean do you think he might do something that we will all regret in the time between November 2004 and January 2005? There IS enough time there to do some serious damage.

2. I think it's pointless to
speculate. It's simply not possible to come up with a fully plausible scenario.

First off, I really don't think our military would directly keep him in power if the election results actually went against him. Personally, I think it's far more likely that the election will be manipulated so that he will remain in power.

What gives me the most hope is that forums like this have continued to exist. It may well be that the internet will actually save our country.

10. What did he do when he lost the first time?
The point being, I don't think that if he wants power so much that we would be willing to declare an obviously faked martial law and hole up in the WH with loyal troops, he would risk losing in the first place.

17. Nah, he & Laura probably don't really like the gig anyway
but Poppy and Babs will have hissey fits and ground him for the rest of his life.

Seriously though, I worry about this too. I keep recalling the voice of Tom Brokaw during the inauguration of Reagan in 80. He talked about the 'orderly transfer of power' and commented that it was unusual in the world for that to happen in a peaceful and dignified way. Somehow, I don't think the neocons will go with peace and dignity.

If they really do pack up to leave the WH (instead of boarding up the windows and laying sandbags everywhere) there will be some serious rush prosecutions and convictions of CEOs, high ranking corporate board members, and many government appointees so they can be pardoned before anyone else get sworn into office! They are the ones with get out of jail free cards.

15. Nullify all pro-environment regulations
Start drilling in the Alaska wildlife refuge; pardon the "Lays"-Ken and Tom--and everyone indicted over the Wilson matter; appoint another 10 or so Pickerings to the bench in recess appointments; sign Halliburton to a $200 billion military contract; destroy all White House records for the last four years; convince Rehnquist to resign and appoint Scalia as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. And that's just week one. The "good" stuff will happen on Christmas Eve.

Like Ronnie, he'll do what all good puppets do. He'll go on permanent vacation.

You'll never hear from him again, because the man has nothing to say. Just like Reagan.

23. he will not vacate the White House, it will be war
I was told before the election in 2000 by a GOP campaign worker that Al Gore would never be seated in the White House and that if he won the election, they already had a team of attorneys and "witnesses" in every state prepared to give testimony that Gore had stolen the election. This person was involved in giving invented testimony before Congress in the attempt by Woody Jenkins to steal Mary Landrieu's seat, and he was never prosecuted for his perjury, although eventually Landrieu was seated in the Senate. I put him down as a professional liar and thought no more of it until I went to bed thinking Gore had won and woke up the next morning to find out that the greatest theft of all time was underway.

Gore was not willing to fight for the election he won. I understand why and at the time it could even be argued he was right not to fight. None of us was ready for a civil war. But, this time, I think we have to fight. If we had fought last time, many thousands of innocent people would still be alive -- who can doubt that 9-11 and the Iraq war would never have happened? We can't be blamed for not knowing what was at stake or how evil the Rove administration would prove to be. But we know it now.

If Kerry wins, and the B.S. starts to steal the election, he cannot back down. I'm glad he's a soldier. He will need that courage. Because I do believe they will try to steal this election by any means necessary.

I don't believe * will hit the big red button. I think it's more likely that the GOP will come forward with a huge list of invented crimes and witnesses and that Kerry will be arrested/demonized/even disappeared. I think we need to be prepared to hear Kerry called everything up to and including the Second Coming of the Anti-Christ. Martial law may indeed be necessary to enforce this, as it usually is in any sort of banana republic undergoing an awkward transition.

We need to be strong and refuse to be interested in any stories of corruption, theft, ballot-packing etc. on our side supposedly authorized by Kerry or his circle. Simply refuse to be interested no matter how many "witnesses" come forward. We need to stand strong and say, "Yes, I'll be very interested in learning about that as soon as Bush has been fully prosecuted for his actions in Selection 2000, 9-11, Plame-gate, Iraq-gate, and all the rest." If any of you remember the Jenkins/Landrieu hearings and the outrageous charges made against Mary Landrieu, you have some idea of what I am talking about -- it will be ugly. These people have no shame and no honor. Their God, Mammon, does not require it of them.

29. After Kerry wins, we got to clean up the whole administration
First off, I think Bush might try to pull some evil little tricks to try to win. First, he will kidnap some guy off the street and dress him up like OBL, then the Florida incident all over again. I do think he might try to drag America down with his administration.
However when Kerry wins, we have to make sure this won't happen by removing all of Bush's appointees.
