Lying about the State of the Union
Making statements about sexual affairs in sleazeball investigations is not a duty of the President. Yet, when President Clinton lied about a sexual affair, he was impeached.

On the other hand, the State of the Union IS a presidential duty. In fact, it says so in the Constitution:

Article 2, Section 3
Duties of the President
He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the Union...

Bush blatantly lied while performing this duty.

So now we'll see...lying to Paula Jones' attorneys is apparently an impeachable offense.
But is lying to Congress and the American people, while performing one of the few explicitly enumerated duties of the president (and in order to build support for a war on false pretenses) NOT an impeachable offense?

Oh, the hypocrisy...piled sky high.

Clinton lied. Hillary's heart was broken.
Bush lied. Thousands died.

(Hey, maybe that's a way to convince Repugs! Using their Hillary-hatred against them! Tell them, if they don't impeach Bush, they're saying that Hillary's feelings are more important than the lives of thousands of people, including American servicemen and women.)

2. There's the impaechable offense!
HE blatantly violated Article II Section 2 of the constitution.

Definitely a High Crime or Misdemeanor!

3. I have been wondering if the SOTU made W* defacto 'under oath'
He had sworn an oath of office and broke that oath with the SOTU

Obviously not a court of law oath, but it almost seems more egregious

10. Kinda like looking directly at me and saying Iraq is aquireing Uranium
At least Clinton was just parsing words. Bush* was out and out lieing. To some people (especially grand jury) sexual relations does not include oral sex. I know most people say it does but Clinton was told point of fact exactly what sexual relations consisted of and he in fact did not have them with Monica.

4. Dems should play up the sacredness of the SOTU
They should cite its constitutional origins, as you have, and they should wax patriotic about it.

They should go on and on about the history of the speech, maybe tell some anecdotes about past addresses by Lincoln, etc., maybe shed a tear or two. When they're done, Bush should look like he just wiped his ass with the Constitution.

...Think Tank. I like it!

Now what we need is the money to drive this buggy home. Media conduits, repetition and side support to take it home.

7. I like that because it steals a play right outta the oppo's book!
That is exactly what the Repugs would do if the tables were turned.

Rule of law, rule of law, rule of law.

11. Agreed, Cocoa !
This should certainly be conveniently filed for special use in the '04 election. Now, * just blames it - the "bad" info - on some imaginary person. I don't know if it's usable at present, but it should have legs at some point.
...O...

9. What's the difference?
What's the difference between Smirk* lying to Congress in the State of the Union and Kenny Boy lying to employees and stockholders about the state of Enron? Why isn't this pattern of behavior obvious to most anyone?
