Main reason I think Clarke was so upset w/ status-quo
MinstrelBoy put up an excellent thread about all the whistle-blowers. The last he person mentioned was FBI Counter-Intelligence Chief John O'Neill. He provided a link to the Frontline documentary "The Man Who Knew" as reference.

If you have not seen this, please watch it as soon as possible. It was created back in 2002, and Richard Clarke is one of the main interviewees. It is as relevent today, if not more, than it ws back then. IT also provides even more credibility to Clarke's character.

After watching, I can see how PISSED Clarke would be about 9/11 and his friend getting buried in the rubble of the WTC. It is quite evident that egos and politics took precedence over our nation's security, preventing Clarke and O'Neill from doing their jobs.

2. In Clarke's book, he makes it clear that they were very good friends too.

4. Thanks for this..
I watched some of the Frontline program when it first aired and thought about John O'Neill when I was watching Clarke testify the other day. I didn't remember Clarke from the program, but I wondered how close their connection was. I will definitely watch it again.
