Are the right-wingers defending Bush's WMD "jokes?"
I'm expecting right-wingers to defend Bush for his WMD "jokes" from last night's annual correspondent's dinner. Are they? Surely Hannity & Colmes talked about it. Hannity would say something like, "Democrats have no moral authority to criticize the President for taking a light jab at the war in Iraq. They've opposed this war and criticized this President from the beginning...blah blah blah."

I haven't seen any Republican reaction to this, other than Rumsfeld's lame comments, which basically were to the effect of "I wasn't there, I haven't seen the transcript, blah blah blah."

This was on CNBC with Mediawhore Gloria Borger.

2. I Know of One !

I saw Pat Buchanan and Bill press on a CNBC show earlier tonight. They had a host
and some woman I don't know on as guests too. Not one of them defended the Bush
WMD joke, Buchanan said it was dumb and he said Bush was a fool to do it, he also
said the Bush advisors were also fools to let him do it.

I am pretty sure the woman was a republican, and she agreed with Buchanan.

24. Defense from a conservative
My friend who is a republican said the joke is no big deal and bush is just showing he doesn't take himself seriously. It's amazing the lenghts these people will go to to defend W.

28. yea well he doesn't need to point out he doesn't take himself
seriously...how could he. The fact that the punchline of his joke is about 20000 dead human beings. Wow that's a laugh riot, eh?

Yea I agree with you....it's sort of like trying to explain the theory of relativity to a fire hydrant.

3. I'm so ashamed to admit this
but while listening to Savage Wiener, he also said that the jokes were very off and disrespectful. That said, Savage remains a pigfucker.

9. Caught that too
But for Savage, no matter how much he slams Bush, he always slam "liberals" more.

BTW - if you are every listening to Savage, everytime he says "liberals" or "immigrants" think "Jews" and it all starts to make sense...

13. It's not that he's a Jew, just he knows he's fluent in hatespeak
Instead of aiming his hate at Jews (like the Nazi's) he spews it at "liberals" or Mexicans.

14. Yeah, I know
It's just weird that a Jew would so completely adopt the rhetoric of Nazi's. It's not even an exaggeration to say that about him, his xenophobic hate filled rants could have come straight from Hitler himself. He's even too fucked up for Republicans to tolerate.

4. Yes
I just watched that Tucker Escew defending bu$h's jokes about WMD on hardball and Tweety bitch-slapped him all over the place! It was great and I sure was surprised. Tweety is mad about it....especially since he is having a special on his show tomorrow night where he visited the injured soldiers in the hospital and saw all those guys with no limbs and their faces messed up. That bu$h is about the most crudest and heartless bastard I've ever seen. How can ANYONE make fun of something so devastating to so many people? He ought to suffer the same injuries those guys have had to endure and see how HE likes it. :argh:

Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 11:59 PM by whistle
...and so the neo-cons and freepers just don't know what to make of it. Limbaugh can't say anything, he has his own monkey. Also, silence is the same as defending it. Michael Savage had a little tirade about the WMD jokes on his show tonight, but he still blamed the red diaper doper babies for stealing this country. :wtf:

This is just my opinion, but I believe GW Bush knows there is not going to be an election in November, so he's lightening up to relieve his own stress level. He has done that before when he took the month long vacation in the summer of 2001. :freak:

7. Did Oxyrush have any comments?
I don't listen to him if I can avoid it. But I would have expected him to be praising *'s "comedic talent on loan from God" to the high heavens. On the other hand, if even Rush expressed discomfort with the jokes, then Shrub may have something to worry about.

30. Oh, OxyRush will say
"Libruls have no sense of humor". That is a favorite line of his.

What he should say is that liberals don't have a twisted sick "sense of humor" at the expense of dead and maimed soldiers.

8. On Hardball tonight, some schmuck from Chimpy's campain was on,
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 12:12 AM by grannylib
and he was trying to be a smarmy apologist for Chimpster, and trying to turn the talk back to slamming Kerry, and Tweety actually nailed him pretty well, really interrupted him, kept him on track to answer the question, and honest to God played fucking HARDBALL with one of the bastards for a change.
It was good.

On Edit: Campaign Schmuck said Chimpy was being "self-deprecating."
Um...yeah. Sure.
Self medicating more likely.

But then afterwards they had that silly psycho-babble about Clinton/Gore/Carter/Kerry on stage regarding body language - it was inane.

15. Any US Soldiers die while their CinC was playing for laughs?
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 12:48 AM by Ready4Change
I would say the jokes were also lame. But frankly the whole thing was so offensive I think the quality of the jokes pales.

"Nope, no weapons over there. Maybe under here."

Mr. President, to find out if there are WMD's under there in Iraq, some soldier gets to ponder long and hard about whether some booby trap is about to make his wife into a single mother.

:grr: :nuke:

(edited to get accurate quote of Bush's "joke")

17. Let's get the names.
Pictures if possible. Send them to the White House with a note saying that here are 3 people who didn't get the joke. See if anyone in the White House has any clue who they are.

I've disagreed with this administration. I've been frustrated with this administration. But this is the first time I've become furiously disgusted.

This administration should show some G*d-D*mned respect for the men an women being sent to die in the name of finding WMD's "under there."

19. It occurs to me
The names won't be available for a while, as next of kin won't have been contacted yet.

And, as I cool down, I don't think we (I at least) have the right to bring their names into light for any purpose other than to honor and thanks them for their sacrifice, and to wish that history could have instead brought them home alive and happy to their family and friends.

21. What time was it?
Someone should suggest to Bush's face that he go back and determine what time it was when he was making his light-hearted bon mots, then add the difference in the time zone to figure out whether any soldiers were dying in Iraq at the exact moment he was poking fun at the fallacious "reason" that the soldier in question had been sent there in the first place. Because that would be fucking hilarious. Well, perhaps to him, anyway.

Ask a Republican who defends the PR-esident's appalling and ghoulishly insensitive sense of humor whether he thinks the same situation with another famous person might also be funny: imagine if O.J. Simpson went on Leno with photos of him comically searching the woods off the 4th fairway, under the golf cart, and on his hands and knees with one eye shut peering down the hole on 18 for the "real killers."

It's kinda funny, maybe, for someone else to Photoshop images like these together for yucks at their expense--it's called satire--but for the guilty party himself to do it shows a despicable lack of remorse.

Maybe next Bush can address the families of the Columbia astronauts, and then when they're least expecting it, he can yell "LOOK OUT!" and chuck a big piece of foam insulation at 'em!

23. Go to BuzzFlash
If you look at BuzzFlash.com (which you probably SHOULD be looking at constantly like I do), you'll find at least half a dozen articles about the Correspondent's Dinner where Bush made his clever (and side-splittin') quips about WMDs. The best way to find each of the articles is to use the find command on your computer to look for the word 'joke' on the page. This might, however, also highlight other, less pertinent articles about how the Bush Administration is ITSELF a very bad joke.
