Could we try buying freerepublic.com when it expires?
Unfortunately FR is not offline because they didn't renew. But Whois shows that RimJob's ownerships of the site expires on September 22, 2006 which just one day shy of their tenth birthday. Anybody interested in backordering for it?

1. Why. They'll just move to a different name.

2. You can't backorder for it...
FR have first option on the renewal, and they can renew it any time they want. Even after it expires I think there's a 30 day waiting period before FR lose first option, so you'd probably be wasting your time.

3. You're right
I have a couple of domain names. And I get first dibs on it well past the expiration date.

6. I know but still...
I'd love to piss them off by doing that. Unfortunately they'd just go to Lucianne.com, Hannity's forum, or the DU parody site Conservative Underground.
