Bill Cosby snubbed Condi Rice Weds. night -- hooray!
From the subscription Roll Call newsletter -- transcribed by a freeper who has a subscription, so no direct link is available.

There was quite a bit of chatter in the Capitol on Wednesday about some unexpected fireworks flying at a ceremony honoring civil rights pioneer Dorothy Height after comic Bill Cosby snubbed National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice.

Cosby decided to voice his opposition to the Bush administration’s foreign policy by refusing to sit next to Rice, as organizers had planned, at the event in which Height received the Congressional Gold Medal from President Bush and Hill leaders.

“It’s too bad that Mr. Cosby couldn’t cross the partisan divide, especially at an event for a great civil rights leader,” griped one senior Congressional aide.

Rice, who’s pretty busy dealing with the fallout from ex-White House aide Richard Clarke’s book, was unaware of the slight and brushed it off.

“It’s a free country,” Deputy National Security Adviser Jim Wilkinson told HOH.

1. But I bet they praised Mark Chmura
when that child molester refused to meet with Bill Clinton after the Packers won the Super Bowl.

2. Thanks, Bill.
We know this kind of stuff bothers Ms. Bobblehead, whether she admits it, or not.

20. Condi Has No Juice With The Black Community
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 05:32 PM by MonicaR
It bugs her. Way to go Cos!

African-Americans have no tolerance for folks who sell us out.
Clarence Thomas had most of the room walk out on him, while others stood up and turned their backs on him during a speech to the National Bar Association, the national Black attorney's group a few years ago.

Condi is seen in the Black community as a caramel colored white girl. She worked in the Carter administration, but switched parties and joined the Reagan administration. She had the nerve to call Jimmy Carter in a 1999 Time magazine interview 'a stupid man unfit to be president'.
Hello, the man is an Annapolis grad who served under Hyman Rickover in nuclear subs, and if he's stupid in her opinion, then what about the guy she currently works for?.

Back to Condomskeezer. They had the nerve to try to say in an fluff interview that she was dating an NFL player, or bring up the fact that she grew up in Birmingham during the early 60's. Yeah, right. Most NFL players wouldn't want her skinny butt unless she put a paper bag over her head for the night.

Once again Zora Neale Hurston was right on target with this one:
All my skinfolks ain't my kinfolks

3. petty and childish
Doesn't sound like something Bill Cosby would do. I'm not inclined to believe this story.

7. I've been known to make statements like this and the intent is NOT to be
petty and childish, but to be true to one's feelings about a person.

I have no problem being politely dis-respectful to someone who I truly don't like.

I walked away from an introduction to former CA Gov. Pete Wilson at a women's event. A person with whom I'd been speaking was approached by the then-governor; she then said to me, "May I introduce you to Governor Pete Wilson?" To which I simply replied, "No, thank you..." with a polite smile, and walked away.

Sometimes it's the right thing to do under specific circumstances....

I think a nice polite snub says volumes more than an insult most of the time.

25. Sitting with her would have given her tacit support for her.
Which is exactly why they originally planned for him to sit with her in the first place. Photos of them together would certainly have been circulated. If he doesn't support her he didn't want to be used to create that impression, there was no other way to avoid it.

13. Actually, Bill Cosby holds a doctorate as well...
Mr. Cosby earned his Master's Degree in 1972, and his Doctorate in education (Ed.D) in 1977 from the University of Massachusetts. His doctorate thesis was entitled "The Integration of Visual Media Via Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids Into the Elementary Schools Culminating as a Teacher Aid to Achieve Increased Learning."

14. I'll never forget.....
....Barbara Bush deliberately turning her back on President Bill Clinton as he passed by the dignitaries' table after opening the White House gala celebration on the 200th anniversary of the White House. This was right after election 2000. Clinton made gracious comments to the Bushes about their son. He walked back to his seat, greeting people he passed at the table and (on live television) Barbara Bush deliberate turned away in her chair -- turned her back to him.

Why you want to insult Leslie Nielsen by comparing him in drag to Barbara Bush? Leslie's better looking.

18. Bill Cosby probably didn't want his picture on the front of the NYT
With the caption of "Cosby and Rice enjoy an evening together" Then it would be in the next Bush* ad saying how wonderful it is to have the civil rights people in the Bush* camp. Hats off to Cosby-- I would have done the exact same thing.
